Does anyone has any update on the Canadian diplomats strike and its affect on our applications???

Lastest I read was from June 06 that the strike continues but it won't effect our applications. As it reads

"The Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade said there has been no impact on operations in Canada or abroad. The department "will take any necessary action to ensure that we continue to provide services to Canadians at home and abroad," a spokeswoman said in an emailed statement.

A spokesman for the Treasury Board, the government department in charge of public-sector compensation and operations, didn't immediately respond to requests to comment."

At several posts around the world, Canada's political, trade and immigration officers will not be reporting to work until further notice.This includes some of Canada's largest and most important embassies and high commissions overseas. Affected Canadian offices abroad include: London, Paris, Tokyo, Tel Aviv, Ramallah, Dublin, Hong Kong, and Canada's delegation to the European Union.

All Foreign Service immigration officers in Beijing, Shanghai, Delhi and Chandigarh have also walked off the job, which will severely reduce the pace and volume of visa and immigration processing for applicants from China and India.

I am sure the strike will be over in no time. It doesnt just effect the visa department but it also effects foreign trips of stephen harper which would mean bad relations with other countries. SO relaex everyone and just wait for a week and it will be over

one week of strike will also be a huge impact to all our applications. It will result in a huge backlog of application processings... I dont want to think too much negative but that might be the reality... I hope it is resolved soon and things are back to normal track ASAP...

What is your timeline? Your profile says you visa was issued in June 2012.. Is that right?

I don't get this....

Why do we suffer from the strike?

Are we going to get our application's process faster?

Are they going to change the waiting time?

What is the benefit for us in this strike?

On top of everything, they can do what ever they feel like and make us suffer even more and make us wait longer. We don't have that much days to live in this world. We are not getting younger every day of waiting.

Just give us some update for God sake in the processing so we should have some clear picture. I am so frustrated now that I feel like thrashing.

There is only so much that we can do. I am in Canada awaiting my spouse as well and there are times I feel like you do. Don't worry, this is not an infinite process. The end will come and you will get you passport and your visa.

I don't understand this process by far means. I live in Canada too have my PR but, honestly if this is how they treat us on giving the permission to have our spouse get to us this way some one is going to get really upset. Some body might do horrible things here I don't want to say it in here because then I be giving ideas to others.

Heck we only have 2 options as I see.

Actually my timeline is also similar to yours.I filled my application on 21st Jan 2013.Passport requested on March 09,2013.E-cas is still showing Application received and Medical received.
What about your E-cas status?

Hi,

My E-cas status has been at "Application Received" and when you click on it, it says "We received your application for permanent residence on January 7, 2013. Medical results have been received." It hasn't changed in a very long time...it seems like forever.

Stay positive and good luck with your application. Hope we all hear from them soon.
