Hello, I am wondering if anyone can tell me if it is necessary to take bank statements when you complete landing process, and if so, what is the minimum bank balance to show?
Thanks!
I brought mine with me during landing just in case. They didn't ask for it. COPR and passport were enough. I think for CEC applicants there is no required minimum balance.

Correct, there's no such requirements, but it is recommended to bring a bank statement as some officers ask for it.

Thanks, toby & green_dc. Someone told me that we should show atleast $13K (for a family of two)...Im guessing that that is not necessary? just a few $k should be suffficient?

someone who told you that you need a proof of fund ($13k or any amount) was absolutely incorrect!
as there is NO proof of fund required in CEC, no one can tell you how much fund would be considered sufficient.

Couple of my friends (CEC applicants) had a tough time while landing. Never heard of any rejections.

One friend had ~5000$ in his account. He landed with wife and one kid. He was able to convince the officer that he is employed in Canada and officer completed landing procedure for his family.

The other friend didnt take any proof of funds. He was kinda detained there for about 1 hour. I suggested him to show his payslips on the cellphone, which worked !

Hello All, Need Advice

I am June 2013 applicant got my AOR in Oct 13, RCMP request in Nov 13 which I submitted in Jan 14.
On 11 Feb received "Employment Letter" request which was already submitted with PR application and the supporting documents Salary Slip, work permits & T4 slips. Please suggest me what document should I send below is the exact request statement received form cic-:
Employment Letter: "An official document printed on company letterhead stating that you, in whose name the letter is printed, will be employed in Canada for a specified period of time by that company. It must be signed, dated, list your name, as well as the details of your employment (duties and responsibilities you hold)."

Also I was in Canada from 2010-13 have to move back to India as my WP ext was rejected requesting LMO, can I apply for bridging work permit or not.

Any response is highly appreciated !!!
Thanks

Hi All. Was just inqusitive - how much maximum funds are allowed to be carried while entering Canada per adult & Child. Someone suggested that one needs to show a $10K per person.

Did you provide proper employment letter including all items required by cic? It is very strange request of your future employment as cec concerns about the qualified experience in the past other than currently and future. Are you sure you did not miss out anything in your letter?

Hey guys.

I've been in Canada for over a year now and I'm orignally from the UK. Sheffield to be exact. I love it here and am currently on my 2nd year IEC visa. I had a lot issues getting my second visa and it took a total of 6 months to get it! Talk about the waiting game. Anyway, I've been making videos about Canada since I arrived in October 2012. I even have a blog all about it with places I've visited and the things I've done. i recently made a video all about applying for my visa. STRESSSSS!!

Please feel free to check them out as I remember all the hassle I went through and Canada is such a lovely place, I hope you don't let all the visa nonsense put you off!

My blog is Ndrika*com and you can find all my videos on there as well.

Feel free to contact me if you need any help. I'll try my best. GOOD LUCK!!!!

Ndrika :)

Hi guys,

I would really appreciate some advice on my case.

I applied for my PR under CEC on Jan 24, 2013. Everything is going fine. I received my medical request on Dec 13 and I completed them on Dec 20. I received my Biodata/RPRF on Jan 14 and I completed that on Jan 15. Now I am waiting for my PPR.

Now the issue is that my work permit and my visa both expires on April 6, 2014 and I have a trip planned (to Pakistan) from March 5th to March 29th.

I want to know what would happen if:

1. I receive my PPR after March 5th. Can I continue with my trip and send in my passport on March 31st, will I be able to receive it back by April 6th? If not, can I overstay on my current visa?

2. I receive my PPR this week, should I send my passport? What are the chances that I will get it before March 5th?

Any other possible option for me? I would really appreciate any feedback.

Many thanks in advance!

Cheers

1. I wouldn't bet on receiving your passport by April 6th if you send it on March 31st. You are not allowed to overstay once your work permit expires. You will have to take steps to renew it before it expires. You are eligible for a bridging open work permit since you already have a PR application in process. That will give you another year. Plus, unless you've had your work permit renewed, I'm not so sure you'll be let in to Canada if your work permit is going to expire a few days after you re-enter.

2. Chances are better you would receive your passport by March 5th, but I still wouldn't plan a trip around it.

Thanks a lot Spookyb! Really appreciate your prompt response. I have some more questions though.

1. What happens when you apply for a BWP? Do you have to actually get that before your old one expires or just applying would be enough to stay beyond April 6th?

2. What do you think are the chances of getting a COPR by April 6th if I send in my passport on March 24th instead of March 31st (given I receive PPR by then)?

3. Also, if I send in my Passport for COPR but do no get it back before April 6th, will I be overstaying on my current visa according to them or will this be an exception since I do not have my passport on me?

Many thanks!

1. Firstly, you can only apply for the BOWP before your current work permit expires. Once you've applied, you are allowed to stay in Canada until a decision is made on your BOWP application, even if your old one expires. This is known as Implied Status. You will have to continue to abide by the restrictions on your current work permit until you get the BOWP.

2. Again, no one can tell you how long it will take to the COPR after you send in your passport. It can take a week, but it can also take 2 months.

3. My understanding is that you will be overstaying on your visa if it expires even if you have sent your passport in. I haven't seen many of those cases, so I can't be sure. The best thing for you to do is to apply for a BOWP.

Thanks again Spookyb!

So lastly, if my visa is valid until April 6th and I am not planning to go outside of Canada then I just have to apply for BWOP right? Or do I need to apply for TRV as well?

TRV is only needed to re-enter Canada. You don't need it to continue staying in Canada.
