Hello all.

My 1 year exclusion order is nearly over. I previously overstayed for 15 months whilst living with my Canadian boyfriend.
On a trip back to Canada, i was interviewed by the Canadian border patrol agents and admitted to overstaying the last time i was in Canada.
As a consequence, they gave me a 1 year exclusion order and I was sent back home to London,England.
I'm really confused about travelling to Canada once my exclusion order is finished. I'm scared that they will not allow me to return as visitor after my previous overstay. Am i being paranoid or realistic? what are your opinions?

I think your concerns are reasonable.

Since you violated the terms of your stay in the past, it's reasonable to expect that immigration will examine you more carefully than other visitors for future trips. You'll need to prove you are a genuine visitor and won't violate the terms of your visit again.

For your first trip to Canada, I think you should keep the length of your trip to a few weeks (2?) and make sure you have a return flight. You should also be able to prove that you have strong reasons for returning home at the end of your trip (e.g. you have a full time job, you are in school full time). Can you show these types of ties to the UK?

I think it's extremely unlikely you would get another exclusion order. I think the worst case scenario is that you would be sent home.

However if you bring proof you are in school (proof you're enrolled and taking classes, letter from your school confirming this, proof you have paid your tuition for the next semester, etc.) hopefully you'll be fine.

Good luck.
