Hi,

can a minor child on a visitor visa apply from inside Canada to attend high school (secondary) in Canada? His parents also only have visitor visa? Did anyone encounter this case? Thannks

You can certainly try if you can show that the family has the funds to pay 10-15k for public school and a further 10k for living expenses. The minor will need a custodian and guardian in Canada. In most cases parents are not able to remain in Canada with the international student.

- Yes, the application can be submitted inside of Canada.
- You will need to get your child accepted by a secondary school first.
- You will need to show a bank balance of at least $15,000 to cover tuition and living expenses.
- You will need to let IRCC know who will be your child's guardian while they study in Canada (this cannot be either of you, the parents, since you are only in Canada on a TRV and cannot remain long term).

Would add that unless you have a lot of disposable income I would suggest paying for postsecondary education versus high school.
