I have been approved as a sponsor for my Mexican Husband in April 2011. According to our status online, the application has 'been received' whatever that means.

Although unxpected, we have found out we are having a baby in December. We are happy about this but EXTREMELY anxious as I am alone with no support here in Canada. Is there ANYTHING that I can do to get him here in the meantime while we wait. I cannot move to Mexico as it is financial suicide for both of us, and here I will have a maternity pay.

I know there is compassionate grounds for a visa IN Canada, but is there anything if he is OUT of Canada? Any help would be much appreciated!
I also know that that a visitors visa will most likely be rejected on the basis of dual intent because he does not have enough ties to Mexico to prove he will leave Canada, especially with a pregnant wife.
Hi portugalpat, welcome to the Mexico thread. Sorry to hear of your predicament, that's a tough one. I am not aware of any options other than a visitor visa for outland applications, but this is probably a question best answered by the seniors on the forum. Hope it works out for you.

Don't worry, I did the first 2, it does make you feel better! Is there anything you can highlight in the meantime? Go June!
Highlighting is indeed therapeutic!

Hi Everyone,

I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar problem. My boyfriend is about to apply for just a TRV and with the family information form we aren't sure how to fill out. His sister is in the states illegally, there is quite an age difference and he doesnt talk to her. He doesn't know her address, but im sure could find out from someone.

My concerns are leaving the information out or being false, and then having the 2 year ban put on him.
But my other concern is having his sister be in the states illegally ruin his chances, or somehow the canadian immigration might forward the information onto the US and she'll be deported. Which I agree with since she isn't being truthful about being there, but it will cause some huge problems with the family.

any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks so much

TRVs are not denied if applied correctly and right after the Sponsorship Approval is granted and the letter received. Please check my inputs on this on Page 52 of this topic.

We applied and my wife got it successfully in the first shot. Just make sure to provide as many letters as you can detailing your invitation, itinerary, plans, etc etc. Even stuff like "spouse visiting to look for a home, buy furniture, etc" is OK.

I do not think they check for family members whether they are legal residents or not, I do not recall if the forms ask for that. But in any case, I do not think they will call the US and track her down, too much work and money.

Let's hope End of June or July, we need the miracle, do we not? It is almost 3 months and no updates no response to the inquiries, nothing.
I do not think is fair to give priority to TRVs, they are not citizens not PRs paying taxes in Canada, it is CIC's priority to process Spousal and Children Family Class Apps on top of any other category. They even state that on the site somewhere.

There has to be something deterring the VO in Mexico City to process the apps faster. The very first 3-4 months of 2011 they were processing apps in months; hopefully once summer is gone we will be on a better shape.

All the best.

Does your husband have a job in Mexico? If so, he can provide a letter to the embassy, along with pay slips and other bank statements. Car? Insurance? Anything helps and works fine.
Make a reservation providing a departure ticket.

I know that you both want to be together NOW, but at least you may want to explore the scenario where you at least spend a month together around your baby's birth.

All the best.

You are right, I dont undesrtand what its happening with Mexico Vo office they should give us at least an ansewer regarding our applications, Its nof fair as you say, the people applying for TVR´s just going on vacation, we have our family there we miss them and the long distance realationships are not easy. And im thinking do we have to wait 2 more months for summer to end to hear something ??? ITS NOT FAIR.
I will apply for the tourist visa next week, at this point im so frustating, sad, upset, EVRYTHING !!!
BTW I remember you did your process trought a lawyer, what did they told you about the time this is taking ?

I concur. Mexico VO has clearly slowed down.

And I'm now regretting that we did not at least attempt a TRV a couple of weeks ago. I really thought we'd be done by now so couldn't see the point. Hindsight, right?

I wouldn't leave anything blank, that's for sure. Always be 100% truthful. I would suggest entering all the known information (name, age, etc.) and write "unknown" for the address if you can't find it. Attach an explanation saying that there is no contact between siblings therefore the current address is unknown, and perhaps state what the last known address is. [Anybody else have thoughts on this?]

As for jeopordizing the sister's status in the U.S. or whether the TRV application would be adversely affected, it would be wise to check that out with a lawyer or one of the senior people on the forum.

Good luck!

Maybe the move to GCMS is causing the slow down ? Has anyone hear about GCMS being implemented at the Mexico City VO ?

Good news for those applying for TRV. Check out the OB 306 – June 29, 2011 http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/resources/manuals/bulletins/2011/index.asp

"The Department is promoting the issuance of long-term multiple-entry visas. Visa officers should encourage frequent travellers to Canada to apply for multiple-entry visas and multiple-entry visas should be issued for as long a validity period as possible (up to 10 years minus one month). "

@ mrandmrsromero I have a feeling your PPR is right around the corner

Has anyone besides KDR applied this year 2011 and received an AOR?

Hi everyone! :) I'm new to the forum, thought I'd share my process!

My boyfriend and I met in Toronto, he lived here with his family, moved here as a minor with his parents and younger brother. His parents put through a refugee application that eventually was declined and they had to return to Mexico - he was an adult by that time.

We stayed together but never filed for anything, just a LOT of visits to Mexico and phone calls and emails and facebook and the usual that I'm sure everyone here is used to (and probably getting sick of!) I found out I was pregnant last year and we filed for the Authority to Return, which they didn't make us pay for, thank goodness! $400 saved! We also got it within a month which I thought was amazing, since the websites were saying it took approximately a year to receive. After we got that, I put in the sponsorship application. I sent it in on November 11, 2010 and received a response that it was received and being processed December 22, 2010. He's done all his medicals, we've sent in all the pictures and airline tickets and everything throughout the years. Pictures of our son and his first visit with his dad and grandparents and other relatives in Mexico (he was born in September), both sets of police clearances have been sent in, so they have everything.

Yesterday we received an email saying that we need to pay the Right of Permanent Residence Fee and send them the receipt within 30 days of the date of that letter. I paid it this morning, sent the receipt over to my boyfriend in Mexico City and he'll be sending it to them via courier today. A couple of questions for anyone who might know:

- If they ask for the Right of Permanent Residence Fee, can we assume that means our application is successful?
- How long does it usually take to get a decision after that fee has been paid?
- Does anyone know about the recent address change for the immigration section in Mexico City? Where is everyone sending their docs now?

Any help you can provide would be MUCH appreciated! Thanks in advance!

My understanding is that if they are requesting the right of landing fee that means that they are ready to issue your visa
