I had my meds done for the first time on oct 2011 and had to redo them oct 2012. I didn´t pay anything until the asked me in october 9th this year, they ask you to send an email to Mississauga and another one to the embassy in Mexico City, did they ask you to do this?
Hi Eduram,

so far...they acknowledged they received our file in Mississauga the beginning of October...approximately 30 days later I was approved and they said they sent the file to Mexico City...this was beginning of November...a few days after that I received a message the they received the medical...nothing since then until today when my wife was asked to provide police documents.

when we first did all the paperwork...for some reason my wife understood she had to get a police report...i dont remember which one she did but I know she sent it along with the medical and we paid in full for the processing and attached the receipt. I hope they dont ask for another medical since they have sent us a message it has already been received...I guess we'll see?

Hello,

Our file is being transfered to Mexico City.
Just wondering how many days or months do we have to wait before the embassy sends us a letter requesting the PGR and SSP for my husband?
Also, how long does the second stage usually take to complete?

Thanks!!

We got the sponsorship approval August 26 and was transferred to Mexico City then. We got the AOR and the request for the pgr and ssp on October 12 so for us it took a month and a half. We just sent the pgr yesterday, and from what I have seen it takes about 2 weeks to a month to hear from them after that, with either the ppr or interview date.

If it says the medicals have been received and your process is done before the one year validity is up you won´t need them again. As for the police reports she might have sent a State one, is the embassy asking for the PGR and SSP? hope you get your letter soon.

so...are you saying after the police reports are submitted and received at the Embassy...2 more weeks and you either are approved (if all paperwork is adequate) or interviewed?

yes...this is what one part of the letter said: Specific instructions including a letter signed on how to obtain Mexican Police Certificate are being
sent directly to you by mail today. If after 60 days, you have not received it, please contact our office
either by email or mail. Please provide your application number, your complete name, date of birth
as well as your telephone or fax number or your e-mail address. Our office will send you a copy.

but according to this other attachment...I understood this is the letter required so I'm not sure why she would have to wait for the letter in the mail?

here is part of that second attachment: This refers to your application for permanent residence in Canada. In order for us to continue the processing of your
application, we require the following:
• POLICE CERTIFICATES FROM:
1. MEXICO. You will need to provide both:
- Federal Police Certificate issued by Procuraduría General de la República (PGR) called “Constancia de
Antecedentes Registrales”.
AND
- Federal Police Certificate issued by Secretaría de Seguridad Pública (SSP) called “Certificado de
Antecedentes No Penales”
Instructions on how to obtain police certificates from PGR and SSP are at the bottom of this Letter

For the SSP she has to go to Mexico City unless she has family sharing her 2 last names or someone sharing her parents last names and have a carta poder signed by her, otherwise she´ll have to go. It only takes a couple hours the most and getting it is fairly easy.

For the PGR she has to wait for the letter. The PGR office won´t start the process without the letter from the embassy stating they need it. She can start by gathering all the documents she needs and paying the $130 pesos fee. This one takes 10 days.

I would recommend sending a prepaid waybill to the embassy so you can get the PGR request letter faster (i was surprised i actually got the one sent by regular post but it was a couple of days later), get that done and once you have it go to DF get the SSP as early as possible and drop the documents yourself at the embassy.

does she need to email them to let them know she will send the waybill...how could she communicate with them to let them know she will send the waybill for the letter?

She can send a case specific enquiry, also make sure that when she sends it she sends a cover letter explaining what the waybill is intended for and with the application number, uci number, and name.

I'm just going by the timeline of other people, some people hear after 1 week but most around a month after the pgr is recieved. But that's if everything is complete and there are no hiccups

It does also depend on the complexity of your case

Hi Eduram,

I have been reading your posts on here and I have a question for you in regards obtaining the PGR and SSP. My husbands file is just arriving in Mexico City. Is it possible to go there in person to get the letter instead of waiting for it? Or, can we send a prepaid waybill to ask for it? We are approaching 9 months now and just started the second stage in this process. Any advice would be helpful!
Thanks!!
