Friends of mine applied in 2013-14 under old rules. Paid $100 dollars and got their certificate in 12 months.
Now we must pay five times more $630. How long does it take nowdays?
Interested only in real experience.
From application to the actual passport.
Thanks.

Are you sure it was $100 only ? Really surprised if it was that much low...and under old rules 3/5 it took long time, surprised to know if it took them 12 months only

any how now time frame they give you is 12 months maximum and it can be anything...every case and visa office is different so there is no guarantee..some people getting as early as 4 months and some taking like 10-11 months

good luck

Don't believe me?
Here from CBC
The processing fee jumped from $100 to $530 in 2014-2015, which amounts to a tripled price tag when the additional $100 "right of citizenship" fee is added.

Also the increase in fee was to decrease the time taken and also to accommodate more applications. So increase in fee doesn't have to be directly correspond to decrease in timelines.
