Hi all,

I'm trying to help out my partner secure a job offer so he can get a work permit. He is a bar supervisor in a 5-star hotel. Is there anyway to specifically find jobs that would be willing to get or already have an LMIA?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

No - there are no job web sites that specifically list jobs where there is already an LMIA or where the employer is willing to obtain an LMIA.

Ok, thanks for the swift response. I guess I'll need to find another way around this. I'm guessing not all professions are eligible to get an LMIA, I'm just hoping a bar staff job can...

Technically any job is eligible for an LMIA. Of course whether you can find an employer willing to go through the process or whether the LMIA is going to be approved is another matter. The employer has to be willing to pay the associated costs (both the processing fee and advertising fees), they have to be willing a number of months for the LMIA to be processed, and of course they have to be able to prove no Canadian could be found for the role. There are no special web sites for people looking for employers who will do an LMIA. People apply for jobs through normal job web sites and hope for the best. Typically it's easier to get LMIAs approved for jobs that require highly specialized skills or experience. Bar staff jobs don't require a high level of specialized skill or experience - so logically the LMIA should be more difficult to obtain. But that doesn't mean it's not doable. Good luck. Hope something works out...

Okay, thanks very much. It does indeed sounds quite tricky. I'll try to identify some type of niche and go from there. Thanks again!
