Thanks qorax!

Can you clarify a couple of things?
1) Which "B" form is for things that we are brining in with us (not "to follow") to Canada?
Both r one & the same. For details on the Goods List/s pls read here...
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t44793.0.html

2) Can the PR application form really be filled at the airport itself (IMM5444E)? On the website it says we also need to order the Supplementary Identification form (IMM 5455) and pay the fees (is this part of fee already paid for sponsoring a spouse - $1040?) That means we will also need photos for the PR application and photocopies of passport...
Yes, IMM544E isn't required to be pre-filled anymore -- it'd be done online@the POE by a BSO. No requirement of any supps & fees as well. The 1st PR Cards r already paid for as part of the RPRF. No photos either, but it's wise to carry some while landing.

To those who have traveled frequently,

My destination is Saskatchewan and I am coming from the Philippines, so I have 2-3 connecting flights with different airlines.

If I traveled with Phil Airlines going to Vancouver, my (2) check in bags which are 23kg each is ok, right?
I also have carry on which is (1) 7kg, a hand bag and laptop..

But with Domestic flights like Air Canada or West Jest, going to SK, with that number of luggage, do I need to pay extra charge?

Can you please share your experience

Your baggage allowance is determined by the 1st carrier that u take in the journey chain. U get the boarding passess of all the connecting flights@the port-of-embarkation, Manila in your case.

Yes, u r permitted one hand-bag PLUS a laptop bag or vanity bag... including that with Air Canada/Westjet.

For everyone:
Try & fly with KLM... I just took theirs from Dubai to Toronto [via Amsterdam]... I found them better than BA [which I take often on the same route] -- better service - more baggages / no hang-ups on excess Kgs - less hassle@Heathrow on security - better flight conditions - better food & in-flight entertainment - shorter duration -- overall a nicer experience.

Thanks for the tip - useful as usual!

Question: Any comparisions with Etihad or Emirates. Added feature being direct flights - perhaps a convenience with an infant? yes/no?

I did my landing last week through Road via US. I was asked at the border as am I moving now or just doing landing and i mentioned the truth that currently I am only landing but may be move in 6-10 months later on - then he mentioned ok then you do not need the PR cards now and whenever you move in then you can apply for it.. is that ok?

Etihad -- is a hassle for Dubaians... for Dhabians it's OK. However, pricier.
Emirates -- way too costly. For the price of a return tkt we could get one free thru BA or KLM.

Besides, long-hauls r a pain for the kids, especially infants. A midway stop however, helps@straightening out a bit. Kids love the break... the food courts@stopover a/ports r their anticipation. I myself find such breaks a welcome Xover from the monotony of long-hauls.

Ps: They have an a/port Casino as well@Amsterdam-Schipol A/port... within the Food court... Kids loved it. And for smokers [like me] this a/port is a boon, 'coz@Heathrow there isn't any Smoking Rooms, while here there is.

Yes, for reEntry from the US, by personal car [only], u don't require the PR cards... the COPR suffices.

Great info Captain and that too right on time. I was planning my travel with BA and also comparing KLM. I am getting Air France if booking thru KLM online and its enroute to Paris.
Any idea how its gonna be?
My only concern is extra baggage while travelling from India to Toronto. As per ur latest i am certainly gonna keep KLM in my options.
Thanks a Ton n hope to see u soon in Summers :)

Uhh, from India BA too provides 2x23kgs check-in... it's only from the UAE that they have 1x23kgs. So, even with BA u should be fine. The only serious problem with BA is their congested seating [no leg space@all to spk of]. KLM is better there, ditto Air India.

However, do check Jet Airways as well... they usually have promotional fares running between India & Toronto.

My return tkt of KLM is thru Air France, via CDG-Paris... haven't taken that route anytime as yet.

Appreciate ur reply Captain.
Yes quite a lot of ppl have suggested me for Jet Airways. I will try that as well, hopefully my extra luggage issue is solved.
Latest is even BA from india has reduced its checkin baggage to 1 unit only....so now KLM seems to be promising due to better comfort spclly with a 5 yrs old kid.
