AIP is stage one (sponsor evaluation) approval. DM is stage two (applicant evaluation) approval. CIC's listed times (we all know how accurate THOSE are!) estimate 6 months for stage one approval, and 8 months for stage two approval. That's the time in which 80% of applications are processed. So some are much faster, and some are much slower, but 80% of applications reach DM within 14 months.

I agree with you. However as of now according to website 10 months for 1st stage. The average is going to take 18 months to complete 80% of the application.

I thought the Landed was when my husband arrived in Canada...

Was thinking the Landed was more for Outland Applications for when they physical landed in Canada!

OMG! Don't hate me - I just got the DM letter! 30 August 2013 - Decision made! I'm sweating, shaking, and crying! Looks like I may be able to take that vacation to Spain that my father-in-law already booked for all of us in March.

Dear Terence at CIC - I would TOTALLY KISS YOU ON THE MOUTH if I was in Vegreville right now!

Screech, no, I didn't send OWP. Most anglophone citizens can't even find work up here, so it wasn't worth it for us.

So what's next? The letter says the Montréal Centre will be contacting me about my PR status. That's for a landing appointment, right?

And yep, Screech, you're right. They flip-flopped on the 6/10 months thing for a bit, but 10 is what it says now. Hopefully, they're tackling the giant stack of apps awaiting AIP and DM, and that timeline will soon be shrinking again!

AIP RECEIVED 30 AUGUSTS 2013!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just got it in my email! That was FAST once the guy at CIC got the copy of my passport!

Yep, two separate emails, not quite an hour apart.

Would DEFINITELY be nice if things start moving again! We all know it's a long and tedious process, but not seeing ANY movement for so long was so disheartening. The waiting is easier if you at least see steady progress and know your day is coming. I can't believe how drastic CIC's inconsistency is. What's so hard about first-come, first-served? If you have more red flags, or leave out documentation, or whatever, I can certainly see that affecting timeline, but why is it that two similar apps (visa-exempt national, no red flags) can have such incredibly different timelines? There are people who submitted their apps before me, who received AIP in a timely fashion, but who are still waiting for DM. WHY THE H3LL is that the case?
