Hey congrats to your landing! It's been a long time and you must be so happy! Now it's my turn to wait, I should get AIP at the end of August but I'm hoping it'll come sooner so I can work ! I'm just curious about OWP...Looks like it comes void after you land? Does that mean I won't even have to bother to apply for it when I get AIP and just wait for landing? I really don't wanna waste more money !!

Thank you very much. Well it hasn't been confirmed if it actually becomes voided out or not. Thing is once you become a PR you are a permanent resident and not temporary anymore so you won't need any temporary documents for anything anymore. And yes, you should still apply for one after AIP. Also, get your temporary SIN with the OWP asap so that you are able to work. Otherwise if you don't have a temporary SIN by the time you land, you will not be able to get one without your PR card which takes another 2 months to get in the mail. During that time you can't work because you don't have a SIN. Which is what ended up happening to me. So don't let that happen to yourself. It is worth the added expense. By the way... I called CIC to check about my wife's name. We need to write a letter to get it corrected. We'll send this along with a photocopy of the receipts for my medicals (proof I did them) and the message the QSC will be on the way. I think I read that I need to write the file number on the envelope to have it added to my file as soon as possible (= without having to wait 2 months for somebody to open it)?

If at the time of your landing you already have a temporary SIN you can still use it until you are able to get the permanent one.

just wondering when approx. will i get my work permit... submitted application on Sept 2011 then they started processing on Nov... I have a job offer but i can't accept it! timelines anyone?

I am assuming that you submitted your application in Sept.2010 as Sept 2011 has not happened yet.

When exactly did Vegreville receive your application?

If you give us your exact dates you can then be added to the chart and you can see people's timelines on how long it took them to get AIP.

Woah....I think everyone keeps misunderstanding me. I am advising that if you get an OWP with/after AIP that you obtain your temporary SIN (if you don't already have one) BEFORE you land as a PR. If you do that, you will be allowed to work on your temporary SIN even after you land and while you wait for your PR card to come. After you obtain the PR card you can then switch your temporary SIN to a permanent one. If you however do not obtain a temporary SIN BEFORE you land as a PR, you will then have to wait to get a permanent SIN and be able to work until you obtain your PR card. Does this make any sense? If not, please don't be afraid to ask. By the way thank you boasorte for helping to try and straighten it out.

Well I plan on doing it right now but it does however usually take close to an hour for me to do. Hubby wanted to take me out for a late supper and I talked to my mom for hours (hadn't done so in days) so I guess I felt that was more of a priority. I do however have more time and was just about to start it now.

Hi all,

If the Applicant who has recently applied inland PR application and is pregnant how she will be covered for health service. I mean she wont have health cover till she gets AIP which takes 9-10 months.

Any advice?

whiteapple, you will probably get your work permit in about 1 month or so. See if you employer can hire you then.

LY, maybe you can add whiteapple to the chart as well.
Also, I hear ya girl. I know sometimes we get busy. The chart is pretty long and I could see all the work that goes in to it. You are still getting new members even now in 2011 too. Don't stress about the chart. Talking to your mom is way more important but I think you have spoiled us all here with the fantastic chart that you created. LOL.

@Chau01: I don't know, but what I do know: at least it differs a lot per province on how to get in. Sometimes the sponsor can already get the applicant on the insurance. Call your provincial insurance to be sure.

Thanks Jurjen, I am in Alberta. Insurance does not cover Pregnancy. Dont understand what to do since being on implied status can not even go out of Canada.

We got the final approval letter from Vegreville today ;D 8)

It was mailed on Monday but the Ecas never got updated. We even called CIC on Wednesday and were told that the application is still in process and there are no new notes. I was dancing in my chair at work when hubby called to tell me about the letter. After hanging up, I could not contain my excitment and was doing a silent jumping routine around my office.

Then we decided to be bold and hubby went to local office with the letter to ask when can we expect to be landed. The lady on the reception was REALLY nice. She confirmed that they have got the file. She typed up and gave the landing appointment letter on the spot! July 21 it is ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

I was wondering if some of the people I do not yet have an AIP decision or landing date put in could please up date us on the progress? If not updated soon, I will be erasing to make room for other members. A few members I would like to ask about is Lena, I know you landed but could you please give us more info about your application such as receive date, processing date, and AIP date? It would be very helpful. Also, GermanGirl and smishsmash have either of you heard recently about AIP? Please let us know when you do. And Terry84, I know you wanted to be added but unfortunately I need month, day, and year when listing info on the chart. Without this, it makes the chart inconsistent. For any new members wanting to join please provide a month, day, and year for when your application was received, started processing, received AIP decision, and landing date. Thank you.

Good luck to everyone. It seems like processing is faster than ever right now. Only about 9 1/2 months. That is great. Hopefully before the end of the summer they can get to only 9 months. Keep your spirits up everyone. Good news is coming soon! :-*
