Just got off phone with cic.. I asked for my client I'd and at last I had one! I asked if there was a decision and he got my husbands information and said we will receive a letter in a week and that they just rpinted it today.. He then said our file was transferred to etobicoke and my heart dropped. He then said in 8 weeks they would contact me to schedule interview, when I asked him if there was a reason for interview he sais everyone gets one so I said is it landing interview!? And he said yes, and so I asked what? We got aip and decision made.. And he said it looks like it.. I didn't rly like thisd answer because I'm kind of almost not beliing it.. I asked if he was sure and he said yes that I could celebrate.. But I know I shouldn't but I still second guess it because of the fact furst thing he says its transferred instead of opening up with decision made! Did anyone else get the term transfered to so and so office when they learned they got decisionb made? Am I just really overthinking this!? I'm in disbelieffffffffff!

;D ;D :) I think you really should celebrate! It was just his wording, and if you got AIP, I am sure the interview is not reuired! So the interview he was talking about is landing one! If you still doubt him, call and confirm with another agent! But I am sure it is good news! Congrats

Hello guys,
On Tuesday, April 10, my hubby and I went to Montreal's CIC office to receive the final step to get over with PR waiting. So, from dropping our application to handle PR document took us 11 months exactly.

So, to our surprise, TV media was at the CIC door because of this family deportation dilemma, nevertheless we were hyper and terribly happy. The receptionist told us to wait in a large room, where a lot of people were waiting as well, all countries were represented... I felt in an Airport.

Then, at 13h00 (appointment was at 13h00) someone came to get us, and took us to another large office on the same floor. We sat in this cubicle and she asked:
Officer: When did you arrive in Canada?
Hubby: I think on the 20th of April 2011
ME: mmm is it?
Officer: she confirmed that it was the 20th, and asked for the Passport, compared the two together, passport and PR official document. Checked passport very carefully (names, issued, expiration date, passport number, and Visa.
Officer: Did you bring your CSQ certificate
US: yes
Officer: Did you bring your pictures? We gave her the 2 pictures (we took them at Costco), and pasted in the PR official document and asked hubby to sign and told him: do not lose it, you will need this for your Citizenship application, do not laminate it or whatever, keep it original.
Officer: have you got any colored certificate from CIC (work permit) I need to take it away from you, you don't need it anymore. As per your SIN card, if you have one, keep it, once you get the PR card take it to Services Canada along with your SIN card, and they will give you a new one.

Then she asked the 3 last questions:
Have you committed a crime since your arrival?
What is your address?
Do you have dependents outside of Canada other than listed under 18 years of age

Those questions are on the PR Official document, and she asked him to initial his answers.

Then she said congratulations, gave him his PR official Document, and told him that he will receive the PR card in six weeks time, then added you cannot travel with this document, you need your PR card.

BUT hubby and I have already schedule our vacation in 2 weeks time so we ask her if we could go anyway.
She said: you could travel to some countries that allowed it, but not all do. So, check first with the Canadian Embassy first in the country you travelling too.
Then Hubby told her that we already contacted the Canadian Embassy to where we are travelling for vacation, and they email us saying that we can, and they already sent us the application form along with documents required to obtain that Travel Document.

She said, and then it is ok! And finalized the meeting with:

Congratulation and welcome to Canada, she explained how long hubby need to wait to apply for Citizenship and gave us the exactly date.

So she walked us out of that floor to the main lobby (ugly place) and we run holding hands (not)... unfortunately the TV media cameras had already left... bummer!!!

That was it... I wish you guys all the best, and waiting is part of the dream, the more you wait the more you will enjoy and appreciate the moment.. I know is easy to say it but we have been there.
Congratulations! I'm very happy for you and your husband. I've been watching the news so I know the drama you're talking about. Did they catch you on tape? Hehehe.

Thank you! I really hope you are right! I am so sick of waiting.... :( It is encouraging to see you have your AIP and DM because it shows they are at the end of May rather than end of April as eCas shows! I have never in my life been through a process such as this - not even when I first came to Canada almost 20 years ago!....My poor husband is waiting for at least his work permit so he can start working.....we have so many plans but everything is on hold until this process is over....

I just want to share with everybody too. I've just got my interview today @ Calgary and everything went fine like canadacitizen did, but our officer didn't give much information about SIN..... We were nervous because the appointment letter that we received said "examination interview" so we thought that they will separate us to ask a bunch of questions. But actually, the interview is very fast with same 3 questions as usual. So happy now.

Do you guys know how long does it usually take to receive the PR Card? Because I'm planning to visit my parents in the end of May after 3 years away from them. I'm just afraid that I won't get the PR card before I leave Canada.

And this is my timeline:

We received your application for permanent residence on November 29, 2010.

We started processing your application on January 14, 2011.

Medical results have been received.

A decision has been made and you will be contacted.

We received the requested information on February 21, 2012. Thank you for providing the information.

We sent you a letter on March 6, 2012 to xxxx Calgary, Alberta, Canada, xxxxx about the decision on your application. Please consider delays in mail delivery before contacting us. If we have sent the letter to the wrong address, please contact us.

Congratulations leo... it takes 6 weeks approx, you can check their link, you can wait or you can go and see them and visit the local Canadian consulate to request travel documents, email them now telling them your situation. Otherwise, if you get it while on vacation someone from here can always send it to you by Fedex or Puralator.
