I submitted my CEC application via an immigration Lawyer on the 5th December, I have not heard whether the

application has been received yet but will take it that it has. I have an LMO valid until April 1st and a valid job

offer. Would I be correct to say that given my circumstances, if I have not had my AOR by April 1st, I will still

be able to work under 'implied status' as long as I don't leave Canada before my AOR arrives? At that point I

would apply for a BOWP and take it from there........

Hi,
if you apply for the BOWP (must be done before your current WP expires) you'll be on implied status (able to work) till decision is done.

I was under the impression that to apply for a BOWP I would need my AOR? The reason I ask this question is I know of a worker who is in the position I mention above and his Lawyer has told him that with just the

knowledge that his CEC application has arrived, he is on implied status with that alone. It is my understanding that as you mention Nov1061-I need a BOWP application to be on implied status-who is correct here? If

it's my colleague then that would get me out of a potentially sticky situation!!

You must apply for the BOWP before your current work permit expires to have implied status.

Scylla is right. You won't be on implied status just because your CEC application has reached CIC.

You need to apply for BOWP before your current work permit expires in order to continue working. In case you haven't received your AOR before your current work permit expires, you can still submit a paper application for BOWP without a AOR. Many people on the forum have applied for BOWP without AOR - it worked for most and failed for some. But by applying on paper, you buy enough time to get your AOR within that time frame.

Good luck!

Bingo!! Thanks dastanmo, that's what I was looking for. I was typing out a reply to Scylla when you posted and I was thinking it must be along the lines of divine intervention as it didn't add up! It all makes sense

now-cheers! As an afterthought, what sort of time scale/extra time does that application afford you? I have read that a paper application can take 70+ days to be seen (probably longer with all the EE business about to kick off?)?

If you still have no AOR, just apply paper based application which processing time is 53 days now and attach an explanation letter about submitting your application without the AOR which you expect soon and ask them to check the system for it.

Thanks nov1061, that sounds like the best option. I've just read a post by dream_hunter mentioning a time line of 4 months for delivery of AOR which would make both your suggestion and dastanmo's a very likely

route for me as I will definitely be running out of time at the 4 month point !
