Hi,

I applied for citizenship in August 2014. I took my citizenship test in September 2014 (a week ago) and passed. I have 115 days short of the 3 years of physical stay. Here's why:

Since becoming a resident, I traveled for leisure. Why did I apply when I still had days short? I had to leave for the US to attend graduate school. So I applied regardless of the fact I had 115 days short. I had to go because if I delayed my starting day at the grad school, I would have lost my offer at that graduate school.

I requested the document for FOIA which CIC asked me to submit within 30 days.

I will be notified to attend a hearing with an Immigration judge. Any advice on what to expect and how to make a case to get my citizenship? Has anyone gone through a similar process?

If you are a bright student you should have known how to open your own topic and not to flood in others.

Yes - I would be expecting that you will have to appear in front of a citizenship judge. Since you are short by such a large number of days, I would be expecting a refusal of your citizenship application.

Seconded. Going to school is NOT a valid reason to be short in citizenship days and I would prepare to be refused.

Imagine if they approved your case, they would then need to approve anyone that didn't meet citizenship residency simply due to committing to attend school or some employment outside Canada.
