How to get police clearance from US?

My spouse will apply immigration to Canada. He lives in US now. Does he need to get police clearance? If so, how shoud he get it? FBI or local police office?

If you want police clearance from the US, it has to be done through FBI. If you read the Country specific police clearance instructions for US, CIC will accept only FBI clearances. You might want to request your husband's pretty quick because it takes 6-8 weeks to get one from the FBI.
