How to apply for PRTD when travelling coming from Hawaii?

Hello,

I recently landed in Canada since June 2, 2015. I booked for a return ticket to Hawaii, USA on October 27, 2015. I'm just worried that I might not be able to get my PR card by then because the processing time says it'll take 84 calendar days but I still feel anxious because there might be delays. My plan B is to apply for a PRTD but there is no Canadian Embassy in Honolulu. Is it possible if I apply for PRTD in other states in the US instead? Or I don't have to worry about applying for PRTD because it's only August and I still have a lot of time to wait?

Your reply and opinion will be appreciated.

Thank you very much :)

Are you American (US passport holder)? If so, you don't need a travel document. You can return to Canada on your American passport.

You have enough time and you should receive the PR card prior to your travel however if you dont get it, below are options

Drive into Canada - Fly into the nearest US airport and drive into Canada.
Apply for PRTD - you can post the application if there is no VFS/ Consulate nearby

If I am not wrong, Visa-exempt is only applicable for visitors into Canada. You may want to double check if that works when you come back as a resident.

No - that's not the case. My husband (visa exempt passport holder) flew in and out of Canada several times after landing and before he had his PR card. We've had tons of forum members do the same. No issues if you hold a visa exempt passport.

Nah, i'm a Philippine passport holder but I do have a US visa that's why traveling back will be my only issue. I see, I might wait till August ends and inquire about my PR card. If not, there will be a lot of options anyway.

I will update you guys :)

Thank you very much!

Ah - I see. In that case you do need either a PR card or travel document to board the airplane and return to Canada. The only other option would be to fly to Buffalo (instead of Toronto) and then re-enter Canada using your COPR in a private vehicle.

I live in Winnipeg. The nearest US airport to my area is Grand Forks International Airport in North Dakota. So yeap that will be my other option but I wanna stay positive and hope that i`ll be able to receive my card before I travel overseas, haha! :D
