I'm in the process of sponsoring my husband. I was told by many that when i start the application in Canada, i would have to stay in Canada. Even after i was approved to sponsor him.
September,19,2011 i sent my application. i was approved to sponsor him Dec,19.2011 and every since i have been waiting for him to be approved for the PR.

Now i did inquire with many lawyers with my process but never had a representative. I was told if i were to leave Canada for more than 30 days it would effect the process and may cause it to be cancelled. I have been down to Jordan twice now for a month each time. But at the same time i had my employment throughout this whole time.

If she would like to sponsor him and stay in the country with him she can do an outside of Canada sponsorship, its a little bit more complicated paper-wise.

Immigration is not all-knowing and they may not know instantly when somebody leaves the country and how long they are gone. However, if they find out that the sponsor is not in Canada, they can cancel the application and you have to start again from the beginning.

Therefore, she should stay in Canada. If she must go to visit, she should not stay for more than 3 weeks and she should have a reliable person go to her house every day to check her mail and answering machine in case immigration tries to get in touch.

This doesnt apply to Canadian citizens does it? A citizen can go to out of the country to visit their spouse for more than 3 weeks at a time, right?
