My wife just received this passport request. Here is the section for passport requirements. Given that she holds a HK SAR passport it appears that she is only required to submit a photocopy of her passport.

BTW anyone knows how long it should take for her to receive her landing papers. I am planning a trip to HK at the end of May. I assume she should have her landing papers by then so we can return to Canada together? :D

If you are a citizen of a country that is required to obtain a visa to visit Canada, please follow the instructions below regarding your passport requirements:

• Submit your and your accompanying family members' original passports to the visa office: Hong Kong. (family members are your accompanying spouse and dependent children, as applicable). All passports must be submitted together.
• Each passport must contain at least two blank visa pages and must be valid for at least six months.
• Please note that permanent resident visas cannot be placed in Diplomatic, Official or Military passports.

NOTE: Original passports from The People's Republic of China and The Philippines must be submitted to this office.

If you are a citizen of a country that is exempt from obtaining a visa to visit Canada under Regulation 190 of the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act, please follow the instructions below regarding your passport requirements (NOTE: To find out if you are visa-exempt under Regulation 190, consult the following webpage: :

• Send a photocopy of your passport (all pages) and of the passport of your accompanying spouse and dependent children (all pages), if applicable to the visa office: Hong Kong.
Hi EandV, by the photocopy of your wife's passport, did you include the cover to the end? And was it color or b/w? I just renewed my passport so only two pages were used, the rest of the passport is blank, was thinking maybe CIC only needs the pages with stamps till I saw your post of the email says all pages.

My file was transferred on March 30th, and I just got a AOR2 via snail mail today addressed to the sponsor. The letter is dated April 16, 2015.

Everyone here say the letter would go to the applicant, but the letter went to my sponsor. However, we reside in the same address in Toronto. I wonder if they made a mistake or something.

I am very confused. We also have 2 ECAS access, one for me, and one for her.

The AOR2 letter is slightly different from above.

It has a section of the following:
If you are a PRC resident, you need to get your travel documents ready for Hong Kong

If an Interview is required, and 6-8 weeks notice will be given.

If an Interpreter is needed, it can be arranged in advance for the interview

Lastly, it has a section that advises you to prepare yourself for immigration to Canada, and to start researching employment opportunities.

The closing has the HKVO address, indicating its from the IMMIGRATION SECTION, not VISA as the sample above.

Hi everyone

I am new to the forum. May I know how I could put the dates at the bottom of my username so that everybody could see it?

I am Dec 2014 outland app, I received the SA on 11 Mar 2015. However, I still not received AOR2 from HKVO, is that odd?

Also, for HKSAR passport holder, still need to submit passport to HKVO? As HKSAR is visa exempt to Canada.

Thanks!

Hi welcome! You will be able to put the dates under your username once you have posted 10 (or 20?) posts on this forum.

As some members pointed out, not all applicants receive AOR2. Some do and some don't.

Not sure about the last question. I wonder too. I have heard mix answers, some are still required to mail the passport, some mailed the photocopy.

Hi jmo1968,

Not yet, CIC always updates the status lately, so applicant status is still Document Received for applicant (sponsorship status is DM ). there is no meaning for ECAS status whatsoever. all you have to wait for CIC email or letter to inform you your progress. For AOR2, CIC will send it to your sponsored person (applicant) email address and also applicant have her/his own UCI for future communication.

By the way. did you get your AOR2 email yet ?

Hope it can help...

Finally got my AOR2.....now I do not know what to wait for ;D

I didn't receive AOR2, as not all would receive AOR2. How could I apply HK police cert?

Accordingly to my lawyer that I apply thru him, he said no need to submit passport for HKSAR holder. I just wonder why some HKSAR holder submits the passport. Maybe, misunderstood the letter above
