Dear all

We are planning to make our first landing in Canada on the coming September 2014 Ontario, however we are in process of selecting which province we will be settling. We are mainly concentrating on two provinces Alberta_Edmonton and Ontario_Toronto.
We are expecting a new baby on first week of November 2014.
I need to know which state has the best maternity insurance coverage since we are expecting a baby in a few months.
Am seeking your best knowledge and expertise on this issue

Best regards

Ontario has a three month waiting period before you qualify for provincial health care coverage. So if you land in Ontario, you won't have health care coverage until sometime in December and will have to pay for the costs of the delivery out of your own pocket.

Thanks Scylla for your great clarification on that issue however what if I give an other province address at the time of landing, which means that I'm planning to settle in Alberta state, would it be that different story and what about Alberta state of maternity coverage
I highly appreciated if you could explained for me about it

Regards

You are covered for medical insurance from Day 1 in Alberta, but you have to prove that you are residing there.

As PMM mentioned, you cannot go to Alberta long enough to deliver the baby and then move to Ontario shortly after. There has been cases of people doing this and they got caught. They ended up getting billed for the medical coverage in Alberta.
