What are reasons that a PRTD is rejected. I am afraid they would reject my husband's PRTD.
We are landing for his first time for one month and then leave and stay out of canada for another month and then go back for good. Will there be any reason they reject the PRTD request.
I want to include H&C reasons just in case.

Should i justify why we travelled immediately after only one month? And does leaving to being with family member in his home country for holidays for one last time a valid reason?
We have good proof that we will be returning (i the sponsor will be returning to canada because i have a university offer)...
Please advise.
Thanks

What you are proposing is what many people do all the time. They travel to Canada to activate their PR, apply for their SIN, arrange for their PR card to be mailed to a friend or relatives Canadian address and then forwarded to their home country. If someone does not have a Canadian address then they apply when they return.

Some people stay a few days, some a week and some a month then they travel home to tie up any loose ends arrange goods shipment and so on.
Some people even push out to the limit and stay away nearly 3 years before coming back as long as they meet the 2 out 5 years requirement..

There is no reason for the PRTD to be rejected so just complete the application with all the details required.

Since he is a newly landed PR, you won't need H&C reasons for the PR card. Just tell them you did a short landing and came back to clear up final details. He'll have no issues getting one.
Alternately, if you aren't coming back until late this year, have the card sent to you from Canada.

I am thinking for worst case scenarios.
We land and start process for PR card but dont get it before we intend to go back. So we need PRTD.
I read in one of the forms for PRTD u can add a section for H&C in case it gets rejected to be reviewed.
But it shouldnt be rejected from the first time. They have to understand that we would have unfinished business and then go back for good. Right?

Someone told me that PR card process starts as soon as we land right? Or do i have to fill in forms and send them?
Can we have the PR card process at the same time still apply for PRTD if we dont get it by time we need to go back?

It starts as soon as someone lands but that assumes you have a Canadian mailing address to provide at landing time else you need to resolve on your return.

If outside Canada without a card you need a PRTD to board the plane to come back so given your timeline of a couple months between landing, returning home and coming back again probably best to not have the card forwarded but go straight for a PRTD given possible you will not get a card in time for the return .

You are overthinking things, easily done, but as said people do this all the time so by all means include an explanation about not being in Canada for when the PR card arrives but thats all you need to do. Do not confuse H&C with your situation given H&C covers completely different scenarios where for example people have failed residency or been away for a very long time due to issues in home country, not applicable to you.

The only reason likely for a PRTD to be rejected could be due to not filling in the forms correctly or omitting details about PR status for example.

So u r saying that i cannot have the process for the PR card and then ask for a PRTD while out of the country? We have a permanent address there that we can use. So in case the PR card comes while still abroad they can send it to us.

Or this case is not advisable?

Out of curiosity, if one already had a valid ETA before doing the short landing could you then use that to return instead of obtaining a PRTD?

No. eTAs are no longer valid once you are a PR.

Thats not what I am saying . When you land CBSA will initiate the process for the PR card if you give them a Canadian address for it to be mailed to. Given it may take 2-3 months minimum to get the PR card, no way to predict, and you implied that you might stay a month and return a month later it is possible the card will not have been sent so you have no choice but to apply for a prtd which is fine.

. Depends really how long you plan to wait in your home country for the PR card to be issued and forwarded to you. If 2-3 months you may be ok, but if only a month maybe not so you will need a PRTD to return regardless whether your card has been issued or not.
