Hi Guys,

I heard from one of my friend who's staying in Canada that there is no guarantee that an International Student will get a Post Graduate Work Permit (PGWP) after completion of their course (8 months or more).

Is it true?

As per the CIC website:
If you studied for…
Then…
less than eight months you are not eligible for this program

less than two years but more than eight months you may get a work permit for a period no longer than the length of time you studied (for example, if you studied for nine
months, a work permit may be issued for a period of nine months)

two years or more a work permit may be issued for three years

(They have emphasised on the word 'may')

Has anyone been rejected a PGWP?

Please give me some insights.

Thanks & Regards,
Merwyn

Sadly there are very few "guarantees" where Canadian immigration is concerned.
Clearly that is why the word "may" is used so much.

Every case is different, so there can be no 100% certainty.

Hi Babloo,

Thanks for your reply..

But has there been any such case where the PGWP has been rejected? if yes, then under what circumstances?

Thanks,
Merwyn
