ask the school to differ you to the next semester as you are having visa problems and request a new acceptance letter for sept 2011.. Fix ur application and definitely submit an SOP.
SOP will explain to them WHY (insert strong and vaild reasons) you have choose that particular diploma and how it would benefit your job in india etc. An SOP will also give your application a "face" or personal touch which would separate it form the thousands of other applications.
