I had contacted CIC call centre agent who told me that bank statement from Indian banks are acceptable as Proof of funds on landing provided it shows the balance in Canadian dollars after converting it from Indian rupees.

Nonetheless I feel that it is wise to carry bank draft / TC / Cash as Proof of funds on landing as these are clearly specified in CIC website whereas it is silent on bank statements.

When I am trying to take International DD in CAD(1250- Myself+spouse+daguhter) from HDFC BANk, I asked them to give payable to The Receiver General for canada

They mentioned that DD will be in the favour of my Name . Generally it will be like that ..?

Any One took DD in HDFC BAnk..?

Can you please tell me the procedure.. from the bank..very urgent..

buddy which bank you going to?.. that person doesn't know how to make the DD.. approach someone else in the bank..

it should be in the favour of Canadian igh commission or receiver general...

need to check with the bank... if DD has been encashed...

RPRF. DD encashed as stated by bank today.

Don't know the date but DD status showed in their system as 'paid'.

I approached HDFC Somajiguda, they said they can give The Receiver General for canada payable at canada

But it will be in myfavour name

Dear Friend, some confusion. The favouring means "They can only encash the money" Just check with bank again. Otherwise approach the Branch manager. May be the front desk person is not clear...
