Fellow members,

I had my oath ceremony in Surrey BC this morning and I am ready to apply my first passport. In the oath email, they asked to wait for 3 business days after oath ceremony. However today, the clerk at ceremony asked us to wait only 2 business days.

I know a few people here said as long as the online ecas status for appllication says complete, we are fine to go to Passport Canada.

My question here is if anyone has had their first passport on Urgent Pickup? I am planning to apply Friday Morning and my flight is on 15th December at 12.40am. Do you guys think I should go for express option or urgent which is the next business day;Just to be on the safe side?

Just to to passport office with all required documents and tell them you need your passport for December 14th as your flight is the next day.
They will just set the right processing time: 7 days in your case. As it is less than 10 days, you need to pay an extra 50$ for express processing, but not 100$ for urgent as it is more than 1 day.

I was in situation similar to you. I had my oath on a Thursday, Ecas complete on Saturday, applied on Monday. Finally, I got my passport on Friday as my flight was Sunday.

Hi,
Not sure if it's relevant but I have my test scheduled for the next week on Thursday (13th). Can I ask for the urgent processing to get my passport and plan for a trip during holiday (24th)? Do you think is doable or is it too tight? Any help with the process is appreciated.

Thanks.

The passport office has an idea of when the express option will be ready. Tell them when your flight is and they can tell you if your passport will be ready by then via express option. If not, then opt for urgent (1 day)

Dont you have to wait till you are done with oath ceremony for the passport? I have never seen anyone able to apply a passport after test itself.

As Manindersinghgill mentioned, you have to wait until after your oath, not your Test. If your oath is the same day as your test, then sure you might be able to get your passport before your trip. However if it's just your test that is scheduled for that day, then you most likely will not have your passport by that date.

Yup, you have to wait until AFTER your oath ceremony... and AFTER IRCC updates your status in their system. So if your oath ceremony was the afternoon one, it is very likely that you will have to wait AT LEAST until the next day to apply for a passport to give IRCC enough time to enter the data into the system

Guys, may be someone can answer my question as well.

I had the oath yesterday and they asked us to wait 2 business days for passport. I saw online and ecas now says Complete. The last line is you became a citizen on December 4,2018. Does that mean tomorrow I can go and apply for a passport?

Thanks

I believe so. You can likely even apply right now if you have the opportunity,

Folks, I applied for myself, my spouse and my child passports in person at Passport Canada. They accepted all three applications. Today only my passport arrived in the mail, but not my spouse's or my child's. Ayone knows if they are sending family passports together or separately? Anyone been in this situation? Thanks.

You can call Passport Program directly and tell them about your situation. By Monday EOD you should get an answer. If possible ask them to provide you with a tracking no.of the parcel which they did in my case, so you are rest assured that you are able to track the item, and getting the mail on time and they are indeed sent out from Passport Canada Office.
