I got our PR in 2011 under Federal skilled worker category and we arrived in Calgary in 2013 August. My daughter joined high school. My wife unfortunately could not adjust to the extreme weather conditions and we have decided to go back to India. We however want out daughter to continue her School here and then her University. I have couple of questions -
1. If we get a local Guardian for her here, can she continue to stay here on her own and then continue with University ?
2. Our PR expires in 2016 March but if she maintains her PR status, can she continue even if the main applicant (myself) leaves from here ?
3. Do we need to surrender our PR status before leaving to avoid complications ?
4. Can my daughter get PR on her own once she turns 18 without the need to leave the country ?

Experts, please advise

4. I mean at present she is having PR based on my PR status (I was the Principal applicant and she is a minor).

Can she individually maintain this PR and apply for Citizenship later on ?

Thanks Scylla. Last question - After a few years, if for instance we want to visit our daughter (our PR status assumed expired by then) - how could we come (travel document) ? Would we get a Visit visa easily keeping in view that out PR had expired at one stage ?

cic website says that minor pr requires to have custodian. for that imm 5646 form needs to be signed by both parents from country of origin and custodian in Canada. Does it need to be custodian or legal guardian ?? what s the diff between two ?? I have appointed custodian for my son . Is it ok or some other documentation is also required ?? Pls help. He arrived in Canada at 16 plus and is 17 plus now.

I am not a legal expert but I always understood a legal guardian as being someone who has a specific responsibility for a minor on a more permenant basis almost if you like one step below adoption. Whereas a custodian is a temporary arrangement where an individual has been identified by the parents or legal guardian of the minor to look after the minors interest on a temporary basis albeit formally notarised from a legal perspective.

Others can comment but for my education given your son is a PR so does not need a study permit where does it say on the IRCC site that as a PR minor he needs a custodian formally assigned even though as a parent it is an obvious thing to do to look after your sons interests.
