Hi,

The permanent residence application still says "Application Received", but then e-Cas added "Medical Results have been received", just after I was approved for sponsorship from Quebec..Should it not have the status "In-Process or Processing..." before meds are mentioned? Can anybody give me their status changes, step-by-step, and perhaps from which office - mine is through Paris, France...Thanx in advance.
*Although I would think they would check meds and police clearance first....before they go on to next steps...no point if the applicant has medical issues or police record that automatically are grounds for refusal...

Ecas is not very reliable, so don't think too much about it.
It's also very common for people to see "medicals have been received" once the file is transferred to the Visa Office, and it stays at "application received" for a while. Some people ( me included) never went to "in process" but directly decision made.

Medicals have been received means that they have matched your medicals with your file, it doesn't mean that somebody is actually looking at your file.

ABout what they check first - it seems to depend on the VO and in general there isn't much info about it. So - for now, best to sit back and relax, immigration is a long process. You're lucky though - Paris is usually quite fast!

Good luck,
Sweden

Yes, I think u r right. It must be just that they have matched medicals to the file...Yes, Paris is usually fast, but hubby is from Algeria, so not sure how fast it will be...:(
Will keep positive though...:)

For us, medical was passed on Aug. 1 (at the same time as sponsorship). Nothing else had been started on Nov. 23, when our first set of GCMS notes were pulled. On Nov. 30, eCAS showed "in process" (began processing on Nov. 27). Eligibility was passed on Nov. 27 (unknown time), security was passed on an unknown date redacted from our GCMS notes, criminality at 11 a.m. on Nov. 27, medical on Nov. 28 at 7 a.m. (for the second time, after expiry of the original medical they extended it). After that a request for a copy of her new passport came at 9:30 a.m. on Nov. 28. We sent that on Nov. 29, and the visa was issued on Dec. 5.

After seven months of waiting, it all happened more or less in one day.

Here is our timeline, which I wrote before getting our second set of GCMS notes, so there are some inaccuracies:

Hi,
Thanks a lot for your information, much appreciated! It is nice to speak to someone right here in Quebec; it seems hard to come upon Quebecers in this regard, especially english-speaking...I hope you are both doing well..:)

Thanks. You're right - I thought there were very few people from the Paris office at the time of our application.

The process with Paris went well, except it was a bit longer than for others here - most likely because of the RPRF payment during processing.

We actually needed a PR travel document a few weeks after landing, which we got from the Paris embassy. When we collected the passport with the counterfoil in it, we had the funny feeling the woman handing it to us already knew us. She didn't say anything. Still, I wonder whether we should really be expected to open our lives up to the government this way. Now with the conditional permanent residence, what is the point of an in-depth investigation ahead of time?

I paid that fee upfront, so I am hoping that it will cut it down a month...

PR travel document? hmm, ok, good to know...

I think they still must try their best to make sure the relationship is genuine, because I am sure there will still be a lot willing to scam, unfortunately, despite the 2-year condition....

The PR travel document is to return to Canada after you've landed, but before you've received your PR card.

Maybe some people will still try to play the system. But if there's a problem, isn't it better to evaluate it after the two years? I mean, it can happen that two people fall in love and get married quickly, without really knowing each other. But not knowing each other after two years of marriage?

Hello Aquairan;

How did you know the date of your file transfer?

We're in the same boat as you, our file was received May1st, and ONLINE it says our file is in process on August 28th as well as our Med results received (at the Paris office)

I am surprised because Paris has only had our file for 3months....and from what I'm reading it usually doesn't say 'in process'for long.....

Hi,

In the GCMS notes. (CIC approved May 31st, and physical file was received June 17th.) My GCMS notes say IN -PROGRESS, but does not say in process in e-case. Medicals as passed as of July 11th.

Yes, that is a very good sign the end is coming (hopefully positive!) for you guys...:) ;D

Which country is spouse from might I ask?

"In Progress" on GCMS isn't the same as "In Process" on eCAS so don't draw a comparison.

My eCAS said Medical results received from the very first day we were able to access it. This was before even my sponsor had been approved.

Once PR is approved, how long do you have to enter Canada?? 1 month...3 months??

I am drawing a comparison.... :)

Medical Results Received was only added after sponsorship was approved from Quebec (July 5th), which says the same in my GCMS notes (July 11). And I cannot say exact date Medical Results line were added because we were looking at e-cas only once every few days at that time...

Maybe your VO operates differently...

Adding to that, although letter of sponsorship from CIC Canada was dated May 31st, I know that they had already started entering info such as security, criminality, etc. as NOT STARTED, on May 29th, two days before...

I will go as far as to say that, from studying status changes in GCMS notes for Security and Security Screening, it appears that they have started on it...or maybe just wishful thinking though, but keeping positive.... ;)

They block that info out, to a certain extent, until the decision on it...

I am not experienced on that but from what I have heard, it is extended to the date medical expires or expiry date of passport, whichever comes first. My hubby did his medical in February 2013,and although they are usually good for a year, our VO has extended it to July 2014, according to GCMS notes again.
