Hi all,

Need Advice....

we got the PPT's back today after 5 weeks with COPR for me & my family.

Now there is error in my COPR form:

Myself (PA): the marital status in "single" and "married" for my spouse. However they have written in Dependent information as spouse and child accompanying.

Kindly advice if the COPR needs correction or can be corrected at port of entry??

After waiting 5 weeks got this error... am so pissed...

how to fill Economic form schedule -3 in points 12?

in primary occupation I chose " manufacturing manager" NOC 0911. in history what will be occupations with duration if these are executive (2008-2013) and senior executive, production(2014 till to date) by designation? are both the asked occupations with title? if I give main duties in 4-5 lines (as space in forms) which are slight difference from in work reference( where both duties are merged and common), will it be a problem? Embarrassed

It's only an issue if you are planning on travelling immediately. If there is still time write to the VO and enquire. In my experience if you state the emergency in the subject, they respond immediately. I had to enquire about PP delivery since I had to travel to India urgently - they responded within 48 hrs.

Dear All,

We landed last year in july and came back to dubai, now after 2 months we are going to canada permanantly. Can you please advise me that what is the best way to transfer your money to canada? And is money you are carrying from dubai is taxable? I will really appreciate your advise and valuable suggestion.

The money you carry will not be taxable
You havent mentioned the amount so I'm assuming its big and you prefer not to carry the amount in cash.
So your options are carry upto 10k per person in cash and the rest in a draft though keep in mind drafts do take some time to clear.
The other option is carry some in cash and wire the rest - assuming you have opened bank accounts when you landed ( If you choose this route negotiate like crazy with the bank to get the best rate)
Hope this helps

Did not understand the 10K per person advise for cash? Please elaborate.

Banks won't negotiate on inter-bank transfer rates unless it is a very high amount.

Regards,
As long as you are carrying under 10k per person you dont need to declare the cash. I came in with slightly over and while I was declaring the cash I clarified with the border authorities.
In terms of the wire transfer it depends on the banks. I banked at Mashreq and they were open to bringing the rate down when I called their treasury department directly - their counter staff was not helpful.
The advantage of a wire transfer through a bank eliminates the question of source of funds and credits the money instantly to your account in Canada without the wait times involved in a draft.
hope this helps

Actually it is the other way around the funds transferred from abroad are tracked, but at the airport you just have to declare you are carrying more then C$10K and fill a form that's it. Canadian banks (not all) also charge service fee for receiving the money from wire transfers.

If you have already landed earlier, you will have to declare the amount you received through wire transfer in your income tax returns (does not mean you will pay tax on it).

Unless you are planning to declare foreign income, people generally avoid bank transfers here.

btw the C$10,000 applies to the total of all financial instruments you are carrying (e.g. cash, DD, travelers checks, etc.)

When are you coming back to Canada?
