Hi Gurus,

I am currently holding a Canadian PR. I work for a Indian Multinational. Currently I am in India and I am going to get married soon.

My question is what is the fastest way to bring my spouse to Canada? or rather what are my options?

1. Can she accompany me on a dependent visa? (Dependent Visa means - while we were on WP, people used to bring their spouse on a dependent visa, is this option still viable even if you are a PR)
2. If above option is ruled out, can I apply a TRV? I heard, you can not apply a visitor visa for your spouse, is this true? If yes, shall I apply a TRV before tying the knot, so that she can come to Canada as a tourist? Does it going to impact the PR process of her, I am going to file it in a later stage anyway.
3. The last option is to sponser her as a dependet and she will get a PR but thats going to take around 10 months? What are my options to expedite the process?

Regards
Ravi

There is no dependent visa option for PRs.

She can apply for a TRV, however it is not guaranteed that she will receive one.

Bear in mind that to sponsor her you will have to be in Canada throughout the process.

Thanks for your reply.
The way people bring there spouse to Canada when they are on a WP is that what I meant by dependent Visa.
Can I go and come back if needed to while the sponsership PR is in progress?

1. No. There's no dependent visa in Canada. It is much easier to bring your spouse for a visit if you're on a work permit, because a work permit is temporary. However, now that you're PR, it will be a little more difficult. This is because your PR status tells the VO that you intend to stay in Canada. Bringing your dependent over for a "visit" is a big red flag. Especially if she's coming from India (no offense meant. My wife is Thai. It's unfortunately much harder for people from poorer and more populated countries to enter Canada for any reason).
2. The other poster is correct. No guarantee on the TRV - but she will have to prove she has significant assets/income in her home country to prove to the VO that she does not intend to stay. Apply for one now, before getting married. If she gets it, then she can come to Canada, you get married, and apply for PR upon landing. Note the other poster's comment. She will not be able to leave Canada during the PR application. And, she won't be able to work.
3. None. Take a number and wait in the queue.

I understand, and the answer remains the same. There is no dependent visa for PRs or citizens. You can sponsor them for PR and that's it.

You are allowed short visits, but any more than that and you risk having your application rejected for not residing in Canada throughout the process.
