DECISION MADE!!!!!!

I've been married since August 17th 2013.... Just over a year and my Ecas status changed to in progress to Decision Made today. No interview was asked and this is what is mentionned. I'm meeting him next week-end for our anniversary and I'm anxious as to what will happenned next, he's a US citizen (born in the USA). WIll they ask him for his passport or a copy of his passport? When I drive to get him can I bring stuff (duty free) in my car as well. We're each driving one car... Mine and his....

Here is what I got, I know I'm on the spreadsheet somewhere!

Permanent Residence
1.We received HUBBY application for permanent residence on January 22, 2014.

2.We started processing Hubby application on August 13, 2014.

3.Medical results have been received.

4.A decision has been made on HUBBY ication. The office will contact HUBBY concerning this decision.

Now what do I do????

there is nothing to do. your husband will be receiving his COPR in the mail soon. not all ottawa applicants are getting passport requests (Which is only a copy of the passport for us citizens). Have your husband check his mail for a brown envelope from CIC. it will be letter sized. it took 5 days for it to be delivered to me in CT, so depending on where you husband is, it can arrive sooner or later than that. he will be free to land once he receives the paperwork, and it will have an expiration date on it. all he will need is the copr and his passport. if he is bringing his belongings with him to canada, he needs to fill out the goods and goods to follow forms so he won't have to pay duty. if he's importing his car, he will need to take the proper steps to do that. he does NOT need to import it at landing, and can do it at a later date. just make sure the car is listed so he won't have to pay the taxes!

relax. take a deep breath and enjoy your time together.... there will be lots to celebrate! congrats!

Here is my questions: How do we go about the car transfer? He lives in Maryland. What was the date that the COPR was mailed, is it August 13th?

i can't tell you when it was mailed. all i know is that, for me, the day the decision was made is the day the COPR is issued.

here's where you can find info on importing the car:
https://www.riv.ca/CostConsiderations.aspx

you will also need to EXPORT the car from the us, and i'm not sure what the link is for that. i am sure you can easily find it by googling it.

there are some mechanical specifications needed in order for the car to be imported to canada. the most common is getting the "Daytime running lights" turned on (in most cars it's as easy as "flipping a switch" in the car's computer). definitely search this forum for info, also check the "Settlement issue" board on the main page.

Assuming a negative DM was made in June 2014, will it take CIC almost 3 months to notify the applicant? Need seniors to help us sort out the argument.
Thanks

i think more info is needed here. how are you assuming a negative decision was made? according to your timeline your interview was waived. it is my understanding a negative decision can't be made without CIC a)asking for supporting documents to appease their concern and b)scheduling an interview to give the applicant a chance to counter the concerns.

Was just wondering. This was a hypothetical scenario. It has nothing to do with me if you look at my time/history on the left. Thanks for your input.

oh ok! yeah, cic can't just make a negative decision without giving the applicant the chance to respond to their concerns. that would certainly open them and the goverment open to a lot of unnecessary headaches. basically if someone's status changes to decision made without ever being contacted by cic, then they can expect the copr in the mail.

My husband's status went to In Process on August 8, it said they had started processing on August 5. On August 12, the status changed to Decision Made and we received his CoPR today (it might have been there earlier though, we only check our mail every few days right now). The issue date on it is August 8.

How does it work - if the applicant is a US citizen while the dependents are not-do they get a COPR or they send in the passports for Visa stamping for the non US citizens?

Not necessarily! A citizen may marry a spouse with kids from other relationships that are legal residents. Or What if the spouse is a green card holder but the principle applicant is a citizen?
