Hi all,

Is there a way you can check with Ottawa and see if they ever received your medicals from your DMP?

I'm nervous my visa office will tell me they can't find the medicals, and if they were somehow lost, perhaps I could work on fixing that before they realize there's a problem.

I'm just being paranoid/proactive.

Yeah... I have the same fear as our medicals go through Nairobi and it sounds like they're pretty notorious for losing medicals. I wouldn't be *that* worried through Buffalo though.

Have you checked e-cas yet? many visa offices will include information about medicals received when e-cas is updated as in process. Not to say the medical is lost if it isn't on there but it's another place to check before you contact them.

You can contact your visa office very politely and ask them but it does regularly take several weeks for the medicals to be transferred so think it might be a little early for that in your case.

me too i'm paranoid and proactive and hope u can enlighten me because there r some things about the overall procedure i need to understand; so, we apply outland and my partner needs to do the medicals before we sent the file; from what i understood from the guides, we need to fill in appendix C, take it with us to the DMP and he will give us kind of receipt and a file number? we should put that receipt together with the application to send right?

also, from what i understood, the DMP will sent the results to the visa office where the second part of the application will be processed; but couldn't that mean that ur medical results arrive faster than the application itself and then they get lost?

thank u!

1) Yes, after the medical is done the DMP will give you a slip of paper that you have to attach to your application when you submit it. It is called Copy 2 of Medical Report Section A.

2) No, actually once the DMP receives the results of all your tests, he/she sends it to the regional medical center responsible for keeping medical results in his/her region. For example, for many people this means the DMP sends the results to the center in Ottawa. When your application makes it to your visa office abroad and they start processing it, THEY will use the information on the slip you attached to your application to request the results from the medical center themselves. Not before. So no matter what, your application will make it to your visa office long before your medical results.

For anyone who's worried about doing medicals in advance...

My husband did his medical in Toronto 3-4 months before we submitted the application (outland Buffalo). We ran into no issues doing it this early.

i seee....thank u for ur reply scylla....i think in our case (he will be doing the medicals in Dubai or Abu-Dhabi and the visa office is in Abu-Dhabi) they will not send it to Ottawa, but to a region specific center and then the visa office will request for it when the file arrives...at least i hope

yeah it sounds good to do the medicals faster but the problem after that (for slow visa offices like the one where we'll apply) u have more risk of ur medicals to expiry or to have very short time between the moment when u get ur visa and when u have to land in Canada

I had a problem with my medicals as well. I got my medical completed here in Canada and my children had their medical completed by a DMP in the US. Our Medicals were completed in October 2009. After 7 months Buffalo had not yet received any medicals. I had to re-send my children to re-do their medicals (nightmare...) At that point the DMP is the US was extremely frustrated, he sent me a copy of the FED EX tracking information confirming that he had sent them to Ottawa, and they had signed for them, yet they were nowhere to be found. AT one point the DMP in the US sent an email to an Admissibility Adjudicator in Ottawa and copied me on that email. After that I got in touch with her (VIA Email) and she was very helpful, and responded almost immediately. She uploaded all of our Medical to Buffalo on the same day.
If you send me a personal message I would be happy to share her contact information. I just don't want to post in on the board and have her find out where it came from... You know what I mean...

I did my medical 3 months prior to submitting my application to allow time for them to receive and enter it into the system in Canada. Once Buffalo said they'd started to process my file, I sent a query via e-mail asking if my meds had been received and they said that they had.

They never told me up front that they were ever received without being prompted, nor was it listed on e-cas, so once you're in a stage where you can communicate with your visa office, go ahead and ask them if they have your meds on file. Just added stress, I know, but that seems to be the way they do things.
