Hello,

My cousin is living in New Zealand as PR. He after spending 4-5 years, he is crying now and wants to come back to home country. He said life is very very hard, winters are like killer and he come home late night after work. He is very upset and tired. Is this kind of life in Canada too? Please I need a right guidance.

As, I am planning to apply for MPNP.. I want to know how is the climate there in Manitoba? How are the winters? Will it be easy to get the job there. What kind of jobs are available? If someone reply me who is from Manitoba it will be a great help.

Waiting for reply,
Thank you.

Have you read "White Fang" by Jack London?

"Dark spruce forest frowned on either side the frozen waterway. The trees had been stripped by a recent wind of their white covering of frost, and they seemed to lean towards each other, black and ominous, in the fading light. A vast silence reigned over the land. The land itself was a desolation, lifeless, without movement, so lone and cold that the spirit of it was not even that of sadness. There was a hint in it of laughter, but of a laughter more terrible than any sadness - a laughter that was mirthless as the smile of the sphinx, a laughter cold as the frost and partaking of the grimness of infallibility. It was the masterful and incommunicable wisdom of eternity laughing at the futility of life and the effort of life. It was the Wild, the savage, frozen-hearted Northland Wild."

Welcome to Canada ;)

Winters in New Zealand are warm compared to winters in Canada. So whatever weather your cousin is experiencing in New Zealand - expect much worse in Manitoba.

Oh..The weather is so worse in Manitoba . You scared me...How about weather in summers?.. Will there any snow in May-June-July-August??

Also how about jobs conditions? As my known friend recently got PR in Quebec with his wife. He is just 10 standard pass and he said he is working in a company?

Weather wise Australia is better. Canada is much colder than New Zealand. Snow and Sub-Zero temeprature from November to March. Temperature will go down to -30C with with wind chill of -40C in some days.

Oh Thank you so much all of you. I feel a bit relax as no snow in summer times..It looks only winters are too harsh.

Yaah Australia better. But people there have skin problems due to no or less ozone layer.

Anyways I will applying for MPNP 2015.. Will there any changes to requirements as I read its a temporary pause only till 2015.

[size=9pt] Hi Sumit, It's not as bad as Roman puts it. ;) It is better put in Robert Flake's (an American guy) below words:

Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening

By Robert Frost

I take it you realize that most people believe this poem is about death? "Miles to go before I sleep."

I just want to tell the OP that you always have Google at your disposal if you need any information of such sort. Most people here are yet to live in Canada. So its the three blind men and the elephant analogy.

Lived in Toronto for 5 years. .. I would disagree with that. .. Definitely no snow in June July August September but be ready for snow in all other months. .. Had flight on 5th May. .. Was delayed due to snow storm

What do you mean by came home late at night? Were his working hours very long? Or was it because in the winter the sunlight hours are very short?

Depending on where you live, in Canada you can expect the sun to rise at 8 am or later and set at 5 pm or earlier in the winter. On the other hand in summer you can expect it to rise at 5 am or earlier and set at 9 pm or later!

Manitoba also has bad winters but if you want good weather in Canada then Vancouver is the place. For the job opportunities it depends on what kind of industry your cousin is aiming for.

PS: ;D just visited winnipeg last week and I find the roads were terrible compared to where I currently stay(Edmonton, AB).

Thanks Spyder...But don't scare me man about weather...So how people cope up to reach their workplaces if winters so harsh as everywhere snow. But above people says in summer times no snow in Manitoba.

How is the job situation in Manitoba... As when I will land, it will be a new country for me so are jobs available? I can't go Vancouver as I am only eligible to apply for MPNP.. Yaah, but later on I may move to another place..
