Hi there,

I create this topic for people intend to apply under CEC through EE to share their marks (out of 600). We all know that EE will be more difficult for us because we dont have the 600 points from the positive LMIA job offer yet. I will try to create an excel file where people share their marks and situations. In 2015, if possible, please go back to this thread and share to other people if you have ITA ( to apply under CEC) or not so that we can roughly estimate the cut off or average points get ITA for CEC

Hello tiffany123

I did not get this part " We all know that EE will be more difficult for us because we dont have the 600 points from the positive LMIA job offer yet"

Why it will be difficult, Are we not competing against each other. I mean all CEC is one pool right?
In that case I believe, we have good chance since not many people will have LMIA in this category.. :)

I mean we have to compete with people from FSW which already have the 600 points from LMIA :)

I just email my HR to check if the job they gave me if its LIMIA positive or not.
I am on PGWP and my 1 year of work will complete on 2nd january.
Ebven though i emailed HR ,i am not sure if people on PGWP need a LMIA approval for their job or not.

Wrong. EE is a competition between applicants. All CEC, FSW, FST people will be in the same pool. That's why there a point system.

Btw, there is already an excel floating around about the points (out of 600). I heard the median right now is about 370.

another question I have in mind is

i have worked as an intern for 12 months - software engineer
does that count toward Canadian work experience.

the rule in the Gazette says

(7) For the purposes of this section,
(a) a period of employment during which the foreign
national was engaged in full-time study is not
to be included in calculating a period of work
experience;

(b) a period of self-employment or unauthorized
work is not to be included in calculating a period
of work experience;
(c) the foreign national must have had temporary
resident status during their period of work experience
and any period of full-time study or training;
and
(d) the full-time equivalent for part-time work
experience is 30 hours of work per week.

i wasn't enrolled full time in university when i was doing my internship.

I called CIC and they said anything other than PGWP, will not be counted. I guess you will get 35 points for Canadian experience.
