We are purchasing tickets from Korea to Toronto.

How have your experiences been flying on a one-way ticket? Any problems? We have COPR.

As long as you have confirmation of permanent residence should not be any problem,

I am planning to buy just one way ticket also....

Why waste 1/2 of the ticket ???

I thought having a COPR in hand would be enough, but people have said some airlines will hassle you when boarding. I guess worst case scenario would be we would have to buy him a ticket out of Canada (to the US) right at the airport (if they refused boarding)!!!

If he just received his COPR and is NOT visa exempt, then he will also have his PR VISA STAMP in his passport. The airlines fully understand that visa stamp. If he is visa exempted, then he doesn't even need to show or tell the airline he is going to 'land' unless he wants to.

I think the reason why airlines hassle you at boarding is because if, god forbid, a person gets rejected at the border after arriving at destination (unlikely with PR, but may be for visitor visa), then the border security needs to send the person back. And if there is no return ticket, then border security and the airlines are in a fix - who pays for the ticket to deport this unwelcome visitor? The visitor can simply empty out chewing gums from their pockets and say I'm broke, I can't pay to go back.

But, I suppose if you insist that you are going away for good, they will sell you the one-way ticket.

I have been talking to my wife about what airline to use when she comes to Canada,
we will use Philippines Airlines..... the Airbus 340 is not as good as the Boeing 767 that other
airlines use, and PAL was using... but she will feel more comfortable asking questions to
a Philippines crew...
But I will make sure to make a note when I buy the ticket about my wife coming to become
permanent resident, and if they say that is OK the one way ticket I will proceed,
Maybe I will send an e-mail and in that way I will have a written proof for may wife to carry with her...
to avoid inconveniences at departure....

Thanks for your information...

Your wife will have an immigrant visa in her passport for travels. She won't have an issue.
