This is from the Philippines Airlines site
(http://www.philippineairlines.com/products_and_services/before_your_flight/special_handling/expectant_mothers/expectant_mothers.jsp)

An expectant mother who is in normal health and with no pregnancy complications, shall normally be accepted without medical clearance after filling up the EMIS form.
An expectant mother may be accepted for travel if she is not beyond 35 weeks (8 months and 3 weeks) pregnant under the following conditions:

Expectant Mothers Information Sheet (EMIS) Form Part 1 is properly accomplished

For those between the sixth and eighth month (24-32 weeks) of pregnancy. EMIS Form Part 2 is properly accomplished by their personal physician. In addition, if expectant mother is below 21 years of age, the consent in writing of the husband, parent or guardian must be secured

Expectant mothers beyond 32 weeks of pregnancy, EMIS Part 3 must be accomplished by the Flight Surgeon or Company Physician who shall issue the clearance for travel

Clearance for air travel will be determined and indicated on the Expectant Mothers Information Sheet (EMIS) form. Expectant mothers need to fill up the EMIS form on a per flight basis. EMIS form is valid for 7 days from the date of issuance.

Expectant Mothers Information Sheet (EMIS) is available at any PAL ticket office. The EMIS form can also be downloaded for your easy reference. Just click on the link provided at the right hand side of this page.

It seems pretty imperative that she lands before giving birth. What would her other options be?
Really none. Her mother would have to sponsor her and the child and the mother would have to meet the LICO for the total family that she has sponsored. The OP would have to proof that she wasn't in a C/law relationship (the child will give Manila some thoughts about that)

Hi
If the OP has her child in the Philippines prior to "landing" her COPR (visa) is no longer valid.
Right, that's what i said in my very first post here.

What i wasn't sure of is if she has the baby in Philippines and has to re-do the application with her baby included, does that also make her siblings' visas and COPRs invalid??

i.e. could the siblings "land" here first while she is still pregnant, and then if she has baby in Philippines only she would have to re-do application with her and new baby as dependent? The main question is if they can all come to "land" on their own schedules, or if they must come as a group.

She should also really investigate if she will be covered under healthcare here for delivery, or at least the use of a cheaper mid-wife as opposed to hospital. I would advise to check out this portion of forum for birth in Canada questions: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/health-b40.0/

That's why the OP should really consider flying with Cathay Pacific from Manila to Vancouver and stopover in Hong Kong during the pregnancy, despite what her mother said.

This is from Cathay Pacific Airways site
http://www.cathaypacific.com/cpa/en_HK/helpingyoutravel/pregnantwomen

36 weeks: We generally will accept passengers with uncomplicated single pregnancies up to 36 weeks (i.e. 35 weeks + 6 days)

If she move to Alberta after her arrival in Vancouver, she probably can get provincial healthcare immediately. There are no waiting period in Alberta.

Again have to be very careful here. I assume her family is already settled somewhere in Canada? So she would most likely want to live with them to support her and her new baby. It may not be possible for her family to uproot and move to Alberta.

If you decide to land and become a resident of Alberta, you need to stay there for a while. You can't just have the baby there, charge all the health costs to the province, then leave to your province of choice. You need to make a commitment to live in Alberta for a certain time after, or the costs will be charged back to you.

So depending where her family lives now, living in Alberta (or another province that waives the 3-month wait) may or may not be possible.

If you plan to reside in Ontario, you will need to wait 3 months after landing before being eligible for healthcare.

Make sure you investigate the costs of delivering a baby in Toronto, and ensure you are prepared for it. If you have to stay in a hospital for a few days, or if any complications, i've heard of costs anywhere from $5K - $10K in total. You should look at mid-wife option is money is a concern.

Not to scare you, but just so you're aware, regular birth in the hospital is just under 3K

Best wishes! I just realize that the child bonus will probably help with that.. if you compared how long you would wait to sponsor from outside the country to the amount of baby bonus you will get while inside :D it will even out. Have a safe flight!
