you can do the calculation on www.cic.gc.ca website. Normally, they start counted the day you become a PR to the date you sign application within 4 years.

Congrats Anu for getting AOR and MR. Yes, MR's are coming in email nowadays. You don't have to wait for a regular mail as it seems you've already got what you need. So, do both your medical(s) at once and get tracking numbers for both your spouse and yourself so that you feel relieved once they reach Ottawa from DMP(s).

I see that your file got transferred to CCP-O. It's again a new trend. I'm not familiar with this. But I've seen other applicants whose files were transferred there as well. CCP-O has a 10 month processing time in total as opposed to 13 months of Buffalo, so that's a good news. I think you can expect RPRF/PPR within next 120 days unless you are really late in sending medical report.

You can get more info on these in the following topic where saka101 and Toughongan talk about CCP-O:
Buffalo Waiting Period: PPR after MEDICAL (Page 6,7 cont'd)
Hi Rossie,

Do you know anything about How many days we need to stay in Canada to retain just "Permanent Residence ship"? I have information about Citizenship az its there inCIC website but PR details is no where mentioned

Appreciate if you could provide me some details with website links.

The law states that u have to be living 1095 days in canada to be eligible for a citizenship....
people who have been living in canada before their PR gets a credit...that crdit is usually half of what u spent....to a maximum of 1 year... (365 days)...

So.
in ur case , since u r living for 5 years...which is let me guess ...over 1700 days...u will get half of that ...which is 850 days.....
but the max u are allowed is 365 days.......so they dont care how many years u live in canada before ur PR...u will get only 365 days of credit...

U will be eligible after 2 years from PR....
these 2 years have to be 730 days specific.....
If u leave a country for 1 week of vacation, u will have to make up for those 7 days.....every day is important....
hope it helps my friend...

Hi anu:
Thats great! 2 out 5 year...better then 6months out 0f 12....it gives a more flexibility..
i was told by my PR friends that it was 6 months.....I am not sure, if laws have changed or they just meant it in a rough way of saying 1/2 of ur stay...

Hi Sam1986,

Yes it really gives very much flexibility ;D even I was worried when I heard about 6 months of 1 yr........ but now no more worries :)
As far as I know from past 2 yrs its the same rule applicable ie 2 yrs out of 5 yrs because I had seen this info in CIC website but I had lost the particular link and thank god the rule remains the same...

I was told on the border to stay 730 days out of 1825 days. That's 2 out of 5 years. My wife was told the same (which seems weird). I knew that I would be given 1 year of credit for living in Canada even before getting PR. But how my wife ended having the same condition (2 years; not 3 years) is confusing...

Rossie,

Thanks for response. A far as my understanding goes yes its true that your wife (any person of that matter) need to stay 2 yrs out of 5 yrs to retain permanent residentship..... go thru this link : http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/newcomers/about-pr.asp

Coming to yours getting credit of 1 yr.....might be they are considering the time period "after PR issual" not before one... ie 2 yrs out of 5 yrs

That's right. Both you and your wife must stay 2 out of 5 year to retain PR Status

You get 1 year credit towards citizenship residence requirement.

These are 2 different things
