Hello,

I applied for PR under the CEC express entry program back on 22nd March 2020, and I have my wife as dependent on this application. We both completed our biometrics on 22nd October 2020 and awaiting any updates on our application.

Both I, and my wife are in Canada on our own individual PGWPs. My wife’s pwgp expires on Feb 12th 2021, and mine expires in June. What are the options for my wife right now to remain in Canada and continue working? A dependent spouse visa based on my pgwp? I understand secondary applicants cannot apply for bowp.

thanks

Hi, you & your wife should be able to apply for BOWP as soon as you received your AOR for your CEC application. You should apply now before her PGWP expires.

Hi,

I cannot apply for BOWP since my PGWP still has 4+ months on it, but my wife's PGWP expires next month. I called CIC/IRCC, and they recommended applying for an Open Work Permit for my spouse, based on my PGWP. Once applied, she can continue working on implied status.

I hope this helps others!
