Dear Nekol, many many congrats. As I was out of reach from internet, I was unable to communicate with the foram groups. I heartily congratulate all the members who have received the good news and pray for all the waiting members.
I also wanna ask one thing, as after few months when I checked my online status, I saw the second line added in my status,
-We received your application for permanent residence on September 16, 2011.

-We started processing your application on March 12, 2014.
Can you please mention what does this mean....???.?

Nekeol,

Thank you for helping us with lot of good information. I know it may be too early to even ask. I am planning to submit my FSW 2014 application in July 2014. I have IELTS scheduled on June 7 2014. I am from Hyderabad, India.

My Question would be around the time line of the complete process. what should i expect it to be?

Congratulations on getting the Visa :)

Dear friends, just read the news below , do you think this will also affect our applications as well???:

Employment and Social Development Minister Jason Kenney recently announced that some occupations in the food services industry would no longer be eligible for Labour Market Opinions (LMOs). Receiving an LMO is an important first step for securing many temporary work permit applications.

Today, an official list of ineligible occupations was announced. No new LMO applications will be received for occupations in this list. In addition, LMO applications that have yet to receive a decision will be cancelled. Employers will receive full refunds of processing fees.

Any unused positions on positive LMOs that have been issued to employers for these sectors will be suspended, and therefore will may no longer be used to obtain an additional work permit. Minister Kenney has not specifically stated if and when the moratorium will end, although he mentioned that the government was investigating abuses of the temporary foreign worker program in the food services sector.

Below is the list of ineligible occupations:

6641 Food Counter Attendants, Kitchen Helpers and Related Occupations
0631 Restaurant and Food Service Managers
6212 Food Service Supervisors
6453 Food and Beverage Servers
6611 Cashiers
6241 Chefs

Hi Qorax,

I am planning to immigrate to Canada under FSW program. I have a few questions and do not now who to ask. Thank God I found you here so these are my questions:

1. I was charged of trafficking and possession of marijuana in 2010 but my case was dismissed by supreme court. I really concern if this incident would ruin my immigration application?

2. I finished my Master's degree in Environmental engineering in Canada in 2010. This is 2 year degree but I have completed it in 1 year and half so will I still qualify for 5 points under section of adaptability?

Thank you so much for your help.

fisrt I dont know u need to confirm from your police department how u will be able to get Police Clear (without any case reported) certificate. many times police dont have records and they can issue ony verify from yor police or relevant authorities

if u have completed degree from Canada then u will be able but if u r attending only university or colleges but u dont have certificate then u will not get any marks. adaptability depends upon the completed certificates/degrees and not only attending the colleges.

Hi Nekol,

1. Thank you for your prompt reply. I was charged in Canada and according to my defense lawyer dismissal would not affect my immigration application. In addition, some other immigration lawyers say as long as I am not convicted I am still fine. I am not quite sure if this is true???

2. It took me three semesters to complete my Master's degree in Canada. I took one semester as a special student because the admission came late and I took the other two left semesters as a full-time student. Iv'e earned Master's degree in Environmental Engineering from CANADA university. Right now I'm very worried about this adaptability points. On CIC website, Canada requests completion of at least 2 ACADEMIC YEARS of a fulltime study.

Thank you very much again for your help.

if this degree is equal to two years study whether u were present or not or whtether u were there for 20 monhts it will give u points, as they will verify the degree but not your presence in canada.

It is not just his opinion. Duration of degree is based on the course structure and number of credit hours required to graduate. This applies especially to masters, as people are more flexible in completing the degree requirements.

For example, a university has prescribed 1 year to complete masters degree, 1 student takes on extra classes and finishes the requirements in 8 months and another one takes 3 years to complete the requirements due to job commitments. This does not mean one student has a 8 month degree and another has a 3 year degree.

To find out how long your masters degree course is you can contact your university. If needed attach the letter from university.

Thank you rizmayo,

I'm kind of confused why CIC states in the adaptability section that "You finished at least two academic years of full-time study (in a program at least two years long) at a secondary or post-secondary school in Canada". I also look for further instruction in the manuals for FSK and the same thing is said. My point here is do they care about your degree in Canada or duration of the study in Canada?

The key here is academic years, which is not the same as calender years. Secondly, the program has to be 2 years long (i.e. the program length in the university prospectus has to be 2 years long). Like I said before only your university can tell you have many years degree you have, as different universities have different program lengths.

Just to summarize for your benefit: If your university confirms that you have studied in a 2 year masters program, you can go ahead and claim points for 2 years of study, even if you finished the degree in 1 year.

Hi rimayzo,

I've checked with my university website and here is following information:

Duration of the program: The requirements of the program are usually fulfilled within two years of full-time studies.

Residence: All students must complete a minimum of three sessions of full-time registration.

My Master's program has 2 years long, doesn't it? I am still waiting for the confirmation email sent by graduate admission office.

Thanks and best regards,
