Hello all,

I understand that the PR card only comes 45 days after the Final Determination Interview. I have mine later on this week.
Is there a possibility to get the so called travel document, so that I can travel for work and family events?
Or since I'm already "approved" after the Final Determination Interview, can I travel uninterrupted? Do they give me a sort of "receipt" confirming my Permanent Residency?
Thanks so much. This is quite important.

Processing time for new PR cards is currently 63 days:

Yes - you can certainly apply for a Travel Document so that you can return to Canada without a PR card. You cannot apply for the TD from within Canada. You can only apply for the TD once you are outside of Canada (you submit an application to the local consulate / embassy). The TD is good for one re-entry into Canada.

Right on. Nowhere on the CIC website could I find processing time. If I show up with all the documents and such, do you have any idea how long it takes? Should I give it an extra day for my trips in order to get the Travel Document? and is that after the processing of the PR card, or can it between the time after the Final Determination Interview and Receiving the PR card itself?
Thanks again!
Also, Inland Family Sponsorship application. Working through my work permit is that makes a diff.

Processing time for PR card is here http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/times/perm-card.asp

For the travel document, it depends on where you are - from what I understand from the website, it's done outside of Canada and so I suspect the process will be different depending on where you're going.

The PR card processing time starts when you officially become a PR - so for you, as Inland, it starts after you have done the "landing interview".

Good luck,
