Hi, I just came back from Canada after my initial landing and completed the relevant paperwork/processes. I opened up a bank account too, even though I will not be using it for another year ( when we go there to settle permanently). The question is, I have a credit card now from a Canadian bank. If I use that card overseas, like from my home country or elsewhere from now till I land permanently next year, would this count toward building my credit history in Canada for future use? Technically it should, as the credit cards from my home country used abroad account as my credit history here. Would it be the same for Canadian credit cards?
Thanks and regards,

Lol. Thank you, man! Just thought I'd confirm, as I don't want to do anything the legality of which may rock the PR boat :) It would sure be nice to land permanently with a year of good credit history already under your belt.

Cheers.

It does - however you will probably end up getting bad fx rates on what you purchase.

Thank you. Yes, I know, but I guess the cost would be offset in non- monetary terms I.e. good credit history before you land :)
Cheers
