Doesn't matter where you are. It may take more time in transit but as far as processing is concerned it shouldn't matter in my view. I am in Canada and waiting for 3 weeks.

It seems they dump all passports in a big box and one officer comes, closes his eyes, and randomly picks one passport, that's why some people get in 6 days and some in 6 weeks. It is very random and frustrating.

Baggage Search & Questions Asked By CBSA At Toronto Pearson For Newly Landed

You have nothing to fear or worry if you are not bringing anything objectionable. The officers are generally very polite and helpful, they understand that you are landing as PR for first time. Just read a little about what documents to bring, and how to declare your items and be fear free.

FSW Application - Need the learned members' advice.

Don't want to discourage you or anything. But CIC announced next EOI based system starting from Jan 2015, so a new batch for May 2014 seems unlikely (but no one knows for sure). And for 2015 No body knows how the system will work yet. You might qualify or you might not. But keep an eye on that...

Landing with Work Permit after getting PR

Hi, Do you know whether the CIC cancels your Work Permit on receiving PR? My question is if someone gets a new PR and has a valid work permit as well, can they enter without formally landing in Canada as a PR (but enter using work permit)?

I dont think you need to worry, If the PCC was valid at the time of application and sent it along, you should be good. 99% they will not ask it again.

I know, but it is what it is. It is not mandatory to submit all PCC upfront, you can wait for them to ask for it. there is a good chance they wouldn't need RCMP, but if something comes up in their system, they will ask for it, like in my case, we didn't send RCMP initially and they asked only...

So it is advisable to get RCMP before hand, these are generally valid for 6 months. It usually comes in 2 weeks but I have heard it getting delayed as well. So If you are expecting MR in next 2 months get the RCMP as well.

Yes PCC from Canada is 50-50 chance, like they requested for my wife but not me, and both of us are in Canada for some time now. They do a simple name based security clearance first and if there are any partially matching names they request PCC.
