Can a study visa be turned into permanent residency?

I am a permanent resident in Alberta. I came here through family class after my husband and I got married. We are in a poly-amorous relationship and plan on having a commitment ceremony in a couple of weeks with another man, who lives in Florida. The question is this: How, if at all, can we...

    Strange situation...

I'm going to start out by asking you all to please not lecture me; I've gotten enough of that already! I am a permanent resident in Alberta. I came here through family class after my husband and I got married. We are in a poly-amorous relationship and plan on having a commitment ceremony in a...

    Landed Today!

I am currently sitting in Toronto Pearson Airport awaiting my connecting flight to Edmonton... I had a pleasant experience... The customs agent sent me to immigration, where a very nice lady asked me a couple of questions and put my address on my COPR and took my attorney's address off of it...

    ABF's Upack ReloCube service...

Has anyone used them to move from the US? My husband and I are using one when we go down to NY in about a week and a half to collect my belongings... I've called their customer service line and they were thoroughly UNHELPFUL. I'm wondering if anyone here has used them so I can have some...

I just noticed that on my COPR it says that my place of birth is Queens (which it is), but my passport says my place of birth is New York. Queens is one of the five boroughs of New York City. I've contacted my attorney (as useless as they are) and they have told me that this will not be a...

So I just had to call my attorney and prod them because they never sent the email with instructions to pay the Fed-Ex fee... I think she's just trying to cover herself, but she went "Oh! I'm going to resend it to you right away. Call me if you haven't gotten it in fifteen minutes." I would...

Grr... Calling the only number that CIC has gives me NO information. When I email Ottawa, I am told that they cannot speak to me because I have an attorney. When my attorney (supposedly; I have my doubts) emailed, she got no response at all.

How do you know when the COPR has been mailed out? I don't think my address in ECAS will change because I am using an attorney. My status changed to decision made on the 28th, but we haven't heard anything since then... Waiting for the attorney to get the COPR so that we can book plane tickets...

I think that the wait from ECAS changing to "Decision Made" until the COPR comes is the WORST! Ivan, I hope you get your word soon too!

    things to Bring

I wouldn't put them anywhere BUT your carry-on bag! I have been back and forth to Canada several times now, and take a large amount of prescription medication, including birth control. I have always put it in my carry-on. They say to always put prescription medications in your carry-on...
