Recommend a genuine lawyer /agent from edmonton to process my lmo!!please

In my experience, the paperwork isn't that hard. I don't see why an employer couldn't do it themselves. BUT, if your employer is prepared to pay money to get someone else to do it, then I do know of a couple "genuine", legitimate lawyers in Edmonton who do some immigration work. Hugh Willis -...

lets share timelines 2014 live in caregiver PR/OWP Applications

I have a question about my nanny's PR application. She has just received her AIP. It says they have enclosed a checklist of documents for dependants of live-in caregivers (it is enclosed). The letter then says "we have highlighted outstanding items on the checklist". The checklist is quite...

Basic Steps in Processing PR for LCP?

Hello everyone. I am hoping someone can help with some of the terms used on the board, etc. and how the basic steps generally happen for processing of a PR application. Our wonderful nanny submitted her application for PR in July. She told me she received notice yesterday from CIC that her...

LIP application!!! i need your idea

I would renew your contract and remain in Hong Kong. First of all, you don't know how long it will take for your application - can you afford to be out of work for 3 to 6 months? Second, what if something happens and it is rejected? Third, you could have difficulty getting back into Hong...

What can I do when my employer breaches the contract?

Well, I think the practical question is - do you NEED this job, and are you prepared to stay there under the circumstances? Obviously, your employer is a jerk, and is breaking the rules of the TFW program. But the more important question is your personal situation. Yes, I think if you start...

IT'S A MIRACLE! We just heard that our nanny got her Visa! Thank the Lord this whole long stressful process is almost over. Now I just need to call Air Canada and get the nanny on a plane! Thank you to all who responded and provided support on this board. It is so much appreciated! :D

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

I'm pretty sure she's getting it back fast because she is only allowed to be in Hong Kong until October 10. If it weren't for the bind she is in, I've been told it is 2 to 4 weeks, and sometimes more than a month. I think you will probably hear in the next couple of weeks - I hear it's about 5...

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

I have a bit of an update. The embassy has responded to advise that they will be able to get the passport back to our nanny within just a few days, so that she can exit Hong Kong before her deadline to leave. They have her cell number, and she will be called to come and pick it up. So my...

    LMO application

I have no advice but wanted to commiserate. I have 10 years of university education, including three degrees one of which is a law degree, and I am barely able to navigate the immigration system to the limited extent needed to hire a foreign nanny. It is a ridiculous system for sure. LMO's...

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

Oh my gosh - thank you everyone for these positive stories! It gives me hope! :) Yes, we have submitted a letter to the embassy through our MP's office, begging for them to speed up return of her passport. She is in such a bind, all because she didn't want to mislead her Hong Kong employer...

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

Her contract came to an end several weeks ago, and she didn't want to renew it and then quit right away. So the contract came to an end and she went back to the Philippines. When she received the request for her passport, she returned to Hong Kong. Her agency told her it would only take a...

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

Well, I have an update, and it's not good news. I hope this thread helps somebody else not to make the same mistakes we are making! Our nanny was a bit nervous about being able to get back into Hong Kong. But she had her Canadian documentation about her application, including the request for...

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

The nanny was supposed to have landed in Hong Kong late in the day on Friday September 26. I am waiting to get confirmation that she did get there OK. I would imagine she will attend in person at the embassy on Monday, Septmber 29, and hopefully then all goes well and we will hear soon that...

    need help urgent.

Oh my gosh! :o I am so sorry this mix up has happened to you! I don't have any advice on what to do, but I did want to say that my nanny got a letter via mail (sent to her previous employer, which seems pretty stupid of CIC, but my nanny did get it anyway since her former employer is a good...

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

Rutt - did she submit it IN PERSON at the embassy? I'm curious, because I believe most people submit via courier/mail. It is the IN PERSON submissions of passports that I'm curious about...

    Hong Kong Visa office- LICP

One never wants to get one's hopes up prematurely, but it's my understanding that a request for the original current passport pretty much means they will soon be on their way to Canada. At least I hope so, since I feel like we've been waiting forever for her! ;)

LCP - Submitting Passport in Person at the Hong Kong Embassy - How Long?

I'm updating my own thread, just in case it is helpful to anyone. We have now heard that it takes about 1 week if you drop off your passport in person at the Hong Kong embassy. When our nanny gets her passport back, I will try to remember to update with the exact number of days she had to wait.
