We went across to America and shopped, and filled up the car with petrol (sooo cheap!) and then home again. There was no problem at the border, got his COPR stamped and away we went!! Can't...

Thanks! Perogies are awesome, very cheap here! The OSAP website does make it sound like you get more if you're married but I have found you actually get less. But on the bright side, less to pay back when I graduate!

What will sponsored person's SIN start with?? - urgent

Hi, My husband got his COPR and we will be flagpoling on saturday. We will then get his SIN number on Monday. I need to know what his sin number will start with, will it be a 9? Which apparently indicates he is not a full resident. I ask because our bank needs to know what it will be for me to...

You know, then maybe you should apply! Honestly, what is the worst that can happen? They can say no, then you wait a year. But it's free to apply to osap, so may as well try! I think you need to be accepted to a program first before you can apply but don't quote me on that. being married...

You HAVE to declare you are married, and they will need to see your marriage cert. If you lie to them, they withdraw funding etc I said I was married but my husband was applying for PR and it hadn't come through, so I was supporting us both. They accepted that fine.

You also need a SIN number to apply and they do a credit check and a vehicle check and check your tax returns as well, so if you're in the process of being sponsored, you won't have any of that for them to check.

Yeah that's what I've read too. I think I am just fortunate that they gave me osap for my situation!

I'm the Canadian, sponsoring my husband. I actually didn't think I'd get OSAP because you need to be in ontario for 12 months prior to the school year starting and last time I lived in Ontario was for 3 months in summer 2007. But because of a nice little loophole, I got osap. Basically I was...

haha you sound like my husband! He is refusing to get excited about it until it's arrived! I see that logic since DM came much sooner than imagined but I can't see how they could deny us! Finger's crossed anyways!

Moving to Canada before PR approval

Also, me and DH did this just last month, his PR wasn't done yet and we only had sponsorship approval. You can read my post on it here http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/our-dual-intent-entry-moving-before-pr-issued-t110872.0.html;msg1607556#msg1607556 There were...

Moving to Canada before PR approval

I wore my engagement ring and didn't declare it, and no one asked. Also OH was wearing his watch which cost quite a bit, again, no one asked.
