Hello

I am international student, I have a study permit and a work permit, I arrived to Canada a pair weeks ago, I went fleeing persecution, that was the actual reason, but I have sued, denounced the criminals in several times to Police and authorities, for six years, but They have done nothing, so I am going to claim refugee, based on at least six reports to authorities, I was usually threatened by people that I identified clearly, that people even do threatening calls by telephone, I can claim as student refugee protection? I know, but do you think based on what I say that is relatively well grounded? Elaborate your answers please, the more info I get, The better

Yes, you can claim asylum.

We cannot tell you if your claim is relatively well grounded. You would want to speak with a lawyer about this and share your full history with that lawyer, including your evidence.

You appear to be mostly focusing on not having enough funds to meet the new savings requirement for new international students although the new requirements are not relevant to older students. If you were purely coming to a Canada based on fleeing persecution you would have applied for asylum at the airport. Have you started studying? Would be speaking to an immigration lawyer about your chances of being approved for asylum. There are significant consequences to applying for asylum even if approved. It will make it much harder for extended family members to visit or get any temporary permit (study/work) for Canada or any country that shares immigration information with Canada. If you have a family (spouse and children) it will be many years before they are able to join you in Canada. If denied the same thing will happen but will also impact your ability to travel to other countries and obtain temporary permits. You will not be able to visit your home country in 5-10 years even if approved depending on how quickly your applications are processed and if you are approved on your first attempt or if you have to go through appeals and attempt to apply for a variety of programs.

Fortunately, you have no idea how hard is to be victimised, so believe me, as you put it looks hard, and it is likely harder in reality, but in comparison to be victimised, being a refugee must be a relief. I supposed I would miss my family that is the hardest part, so I am going to try other paths before, but If I must claim refugee as my last resort, I will do it, Thank you for your answer.

Interesting, things change pretty fast...imo student path is the most preferred way in this situation than the refugee.
