Help with employers who are willing to take on foreign workers still in United Kingdom

Hi,

I wondered if anyone had any experience of any employers who were particularly good at hiring foreign workers before they have their citizenship? I can really only get enough points to get in to the EE now with a job offer and after having done my IELTS and had m degree evaluated I am not ready to give up on my dream yet. I am desperate to get to Canada, however, I have applied for lots of jobs without success. I have a friend who lives over there and she said employers will not even consider you unless you have your citizenship, do you think I am wasting my time?

A very frustrated individual, thank you in advance x

I think you mean permanent residency - not citizenship.

To answer your question, yes - the vast majority of employers aren't willing to deal with the LMIA process and won't consider even looking at you until you are a PR. I would explore other ways of increasing your EE score (e.g. taking IELTS again to max out your score). Unfortunately it's very unlikely you'll be successful in securing a job offer.

Hi, yes I did mean PR, sorry. Thank you for your honest answer, I guess unless you have a hugely sort after occupation its extremely difficult. I just wondered if anyone had any experience of any employers who were a little more helpful toward our situation.
Also there is a job fair near me soon where some employers from Canada will be attending, I am going to go this, I don't hold out much hope though.

As for my IELTS, I really don't think I could get a much better score, but thank you for your reply. And even when I pass my masters this won't give me enough extra points either. Surely, there has to be another way :(

Thanks,

Jo

Join the Express Entry section of the forum. There are multiple discussions there about increasing point. Getting a job offer is pretty much the hardest way of increasing points. So you want to look at other options.

Thank you, I thought I had looked at most other options of increasing my points for my circumstances and came up with the job offer as being the option which would give me the most, but I will have a look and see if there is anything else I can do.

Thanks again for your help.
