dec 2010 application send to cic-m
jan 10 2011 approved
jan 17 2011 forwared to colombo
nov 15 2011 husband interview
nov 15 2011 denied visa

now have to appeal how much will the lawyer cost and the time of this waiting game....the reason they refused me because of odsp and that i cant support him when he come down to canada...iam from toronto and looking for a lawyer and how much it will cost for the whole process....please share some info that i can be prepared and also how long it will take to get the refusal letter thanks in advance for the replies

They say that you don't have to have a certain amount of money to sponsor a spouse, they usually check if you've ever been on social assistance, they can refuse you if you've relied on social assistance.

Social assistance other than disability is not allowed. if someone is receiving social assistance then he/she is not eligible for sponsoring anyone. but if someone is receiving any assistance based on his/her disability then he/she is eligible for sponsoring spouse etc. but there must be a written statement that if the spouse come to canada, he/she will not receive social assistance of any kind from government

This appeals process is nothing but garbage...I been waiting since Oct. last year and was given nothing but a damn run around b the appeals board in Vancouver.ever time I call..they tell me something else..Three weeks ago I was told I would get m hearing this Oct-last week now im told it wont happen and the are stopping to a few cases for the next six months...when i asked wheat im supposed to do..was hung up on...Thats the respect for a citizen??Ive contacted minister of Immigration-Hussen..Trudeau..Alberta Premier-Notley..MP Michelle Rempel..Canadian HUman Rights ..Alberta HUman Rights..Minister of JUstice..Vancouver appeals...Minister counsel(CIC) downtown calgary...and not one person except NOtley responded-and she told me to contact Michelle Rempel-michelles respond-its not her business(six mos ago is her response)...So..folks U are under a govt that does not care a shit for u and ur needs...Your better off not fighting the system...u will be ignored...trust me.

I know how you feel. Did you file your appeal last October? I filed my appeal January 2015 and my hearing is next week. So I had to wait 2 years and 5 months....btw I'm in Totonto. Its a totally unjust system. Genuine couples are having their lives put on hold for so long by incompetent people who don't give a damn. When I sponsored my husband we sent in so many things to prove our relationship...pics, letters, cards, phone records, messages; everything you could possibly send in and yet they refused him. And its not like I met him in a couple of days and got married, we were together for 8 years before we got married.

No i am not appealing , My wife she is on odsp. we got married few months back. i am an engineer in Saudi Arabia. I read all the rules and regulations for sponsors having disability. They allow people with disability to sponsor.
My wife was okay and was improving, suddenly last week just got worse and stop even talking. she smiles only.
Now i am worried how to reach her, i applied for TRV but i know the chances are low. i dont want her to apply for sponsorship now because if they call her for interview then she will not be able to say anything.

Omg I hope your wife is okay . This immigration process is too stressful
