Child sponsorship - Question on AORs / emails

Hello all,

I am currently PR, recently renewed PR card, etc., and we submitted applications to sponsor my two daughters (5 & 8).

After applying and receiving the *application* confirmation in their respective emails on May 9th and May 10th respectively for each, I was awaiting for the next emails from IRCC.

On July 19th, I received an email on *my* account, confirming reception to my application to sponsor a family member, so I assume this is *my* AOR ? On the same day, I also received a second email confirming my eligibility to be a sponsor.

*Both* of these emails only mentioned 1 of my daughters.

Now, while I just saw it today, as I hadn't checked, on Saturday, July 22nd, it seems *both* my daughters received an email on their respective addresses from IRCC, and this was for getting the medical exams done.

So, I am a bit confused, because I though the medical exams are one of the last steps?

- Were they not supposed to have received an AOR prior to this?
- Shouldn't I have received the same 2 emails (AOR/Sponsor eligibility confirmation) for my second daughter?
- Was the medical the (almost) last step in the process before submitting passports, or are there more steps I'm missing?

Thanks!

You submitted two separate applications?

I wouldn't worry about the missing AOR for the second daughter, the medical request basically confirms that the app was accepted. It is a bit odd you didn't get aor at least but I don't think anything to worry about. You should - in princple - be able to access gckey for these apps and check where the one that didn't get aor is at.

Medical is far from last step but in case of minors, may be closer than for adults (as criminality and security are likely closer to pro forma). (There are a couple countries for which they seem to ask medical closer to end but they're not common).

Thanks! I did just try GCkey but even though I started with the one that *did* receive the emails, the application could not be found. I must have had something not matching or something..

Ok, will take them for the medicals then. Had hoped it was close to the end haha. Guess wil have to be patient, I mean, technically it has been just over 2 months since I submitted the applications anyway.

All I can suggest is keep trying, vary up information. THe one that trips up most in spousal apps is family size, where the sponsor must be included in the family count. I presume that means for the dependent app it would be famly size of 2, but only an educated guess.

Updating for reference:

May 9th/10th: Applied for PR Under Family Sponsorship
July 19th: Received confirmation of Sponsor Application and Sponsor Eligibility Confirmation
July 22nd: Received request to do medical exams for both children - Exams done July 25, receipt from clinic received that same day (and uploaded by them)
September 21st: Received emails (both children) stating PR application was being processed and that they qualified for pre-arrival services, which are available *before* entering Canada (weird because in the application I did state they currently were *in* Canada with visitor visa)
September 21st: Also received emails (both children) from the PR Confirmation Portal, stating:

"Your application for permanent residence is now ready for finalization pending the confirmation
of your permanent residence status. You’ll complete this process through the Permanent
Resident Portal (PR Confirmation)."

A reply was required within 7 days (already sent) with some basic information, and it is stated that an invite will be received for the portal, after which the instructions are:

"Confirming your permanent residence using the portal

In the portal, you’ll confirm that you and your dependants (if applicable) are in Canada, provide
your Canadian address and submit your photo to create a permanent resident card.
In the portal there are two steps: step 1: declaring your presence in Canada is a requirement to
become a permanent resident and step 2: submitting a photo and a Canadian address is a
requirement to receive your permanent resident card."

So I guess this is a new process and you don't to the "landing"? (Or in this case where they are already here, you don't need to do it in person at an office anymore?)

Update:

September 28: Received e-mail (both children) from PR Portal saying the PR Confirmation case had been created, and needed to login and submit documentation/information. (This consisted in confirming person is in Canada, providing mailing address, and uploading photo).

After submitting, another e-mail was immediately received confirming submission, and stating that once reviewed if all was correct the PR card would be mailed to the provided address.

Update: e-mail received on December 22, stating PR had been completed, and that we could download the COPR

Still waiting for the PR cards themselves. Seems that they only get mailed once the address and photo are "accepted"... Really weird that the address already shows accepted but the photo is "in review"... You would think they would do that at the same time, but, oh well... Guess will have to wait a bit more until someone decides to take a look at the photo and accept it...

Hi, It seems you have sponsored your both kids alone. I am about to do same, sponsoring my two kids and have some questions, hope you can help me.
1. Imm1344e application to sponsor - As kids are minor, in place of applicant signature we should write our name instead of kids name?
2. Imm1344e application to sponsorThere is question under sponsor eligibility section "Have you submitted a previous application in respect of which a final decision has not bee made for the person being sponsored and their family member?". for first kid, It will be NO. but for the second kid, should we Yes or NO? as the first application submitted and pending this makes as YES .
3. Photos. asked to upload the scanned physical photo (Front and back). was it the same? it seems you sent photos again for PR card
4. IMM5481-sponsorship evaluation: In this doc, there is a section for number of family members included in undertakings. For first kid, we can say no previous undertakings. For second kid application, should we keep one as previous under taking which is yet to approve?
5. Do we need to upload any letter of explanation or support letter etc?
6. ANy other supporting documents apart from these - Sponsor PR card, employment source letter, Kids passport/ID card, Kids birth certificate, few Kids/parent photos, passport photo.
7. Now, forms IMM0008, 5406, 5669 are online where there is no signature field. Should we ignore in checklist where we need to check under signatures section as signed. all we have only IMM1344 where we can fill form with signature.
please share the link if you already shared the details in this forum. otherwise, your response would be appreciated!

Hi, as per what I did:

1) Yes, you have to sign for them
2) No for both.
3) Yes, I used the same photo I had taken for the application for the PR card.
4) Section 5: Yourself: 1 Current Undertakings: 1 Previous: all 0 Section 6: A-your spouse: 1 B-Other family members: 1 Section 7 Total number of persons: 4
5) I did not submit anything extra about all this (only something because in my case I had not received *MY* renewed PR cards, so I uploaded a picture of my expired ones, but if that's not your case it's irrelevant).
6) Nothing extra, only that which was explicitly required
7) The electronic ones are singed electronically, don't remember if it auto fills a "type" of signature, or if you just enter your name, etc.

Thank you for your quick reply.
I hope you have submitted both application on the same day right?
online forms doesnt have any signature now. As these are online, they consider applicant consent them not sure, they take consent once we submit. When we click submit application button, does it ask for any esign, if yes, still write my name as child is minor. right?

Yes, both were submitted on the same day.

The electronic ones don't have a physical signature, but when you get to the end you still have to "sign" them, and yes, you put your own name, not your child's. (Everywhere the principal applicant would sign, you place your own name and "signature")
