Possible Strike Action by IRCC employees starting mid-April

Did you ever get response after you submitted a request for urgent processing? I submitted mine, got an acknowledgement soon after but radio silence after...

No response to webform so emailed Scarborough, got "your enquiry has been forwarded to the responsible unit for their review". Wrote again today and got "your correspondence has been forwarded to the responsible unit for their action". The "responsible unit" is probably on strike

Also, chances are you've already been granted citizenship, but your tracker hasn't been updated yet. My citizenship was granted on January 30th and then it was sent to the scheduling office, but I didn't get any updates until March 9th with my ceremony date. So you never know!

As per notes and my local office, LPP is still pending (not started) and my "file is in queue for review by an officer".

Depends on the backlog. My bf missed his first ceremony due to timezone (it was MTD and we live in Vancouver - PST) by one hour and he got rescheduled 2 months later, but when you have hundreds if not thousands of people waiting to be rescheduled, that might take at least 6 months to clear the backlog.
Unless they approve the self-administered oath legislation.

How far in advance do they schedule oath, like 2 months? So a 5 day strike would mean those people get rescheduled in a couple of months and future invitees (not yet scheduled) would be delayed by a week. So nothing to worry about. Surely they will prioritize the cancellations.

Just imagine that it was an in-person event and there was really bad weather for a week

That is not necessarily the case. It is my understanding (from what I recall reading on here from an IRCC agent), that oath schedules are not OFFICIAL until an email invitation is sent out.

So the oaths that were scheduled on the tracker are not official, and only “tentative”. So we really don’t know how they will reschedule people.

If I were to guess, I would say that people who’ve already received their email invitation, would still have their scheduled oaths on those days, if the strike were to end. However, there is no guarantee that those scheduled on the tracker would keep their dates.

I‘m going by what I see on my email invitation. When they send you that email, they give you a “seat number” and other relevant things for the oath itself. It seems they assign all of those things when they send the email.

I'm not sure they will prioritize cancelations unless they actually specify that.

We can think, we can speculate, and sure it may help us cope, but at the end of the day, there is no guarantee on how things will pan out during and after the strike. All we can do is wait and hope for the best. Email your processing office and request an update if it's taking too long to reschedule your ceremonies, and hang tight. We have no idea how things will be prioritized from now on. At least, the only thing that is guaranteed is that if you have been scheduled for your oath, you have been granted citizenship, and you will get your ceremony no matter what, so congratulations!

If that's the case why then cancelling a Monday ceremony now when you still have the weekend to continue the negotiations is not appropriate, what if an agreement was reached on the weekend and the strike is called off with an immediate go back to work order starting Monday 24th April....

Exactly my point when someone was complaining about them cancelling last minute.
