Wrongful information from call center has messed everything up. What now?

Long story short: boyfriend is sponsoring me for PR and OWP. We sent in our app in january, but it got sent back due to a missing signature. I had by then lost my status. We called CIC asking what we could do once we re-send the application, since I needed to get the OWP processed, which couldn't happen with an invalid status.

The lady (and the following 3 agents we called to confirm this) said that we could send the restoration of status in together with our new application and OWP application, and that they would process the OWP after they've restored the status, both of which would be faster than waiting for the AIP stage. I asked if it would be better to apply for a restoration separately, and then once we got it, re-send everything in. The agents all replied that no, you can send everything in together and it'll go faster that way.

So we were like alright, fantastic, we'll do it like that then and will keep it inland. I call them now (two months after we re-sent everything in) and the call center is suddenly saying how the OWP won't even start getting processed until after the Approval In Principle. That me restoring won't do anything, that's basically just so I'm being a good girl and have legal status while we wait. She said the VO had written down on the application that OWP will be processed once the AIP is in, because I was out of status once I sent that in.

How is it possible that we got such HORRIBLE advice in the beginning?!? Not to mention, a lot of threads on here have confirmed that you can send the restoration and OWP in together, and they'll process them together so that it'll go faster.

I feel so betrayed by this system, so spent, so angry. I called them back 2 times and they were both repeating the same thing, how I have to wait for the AIP.

What do I do now? Is there anything I can do?

Welcome to the IRCC’s Call Centre. It's notorious for providing incorrect or misleading information.
At this point in time, it's probably too late to change the sequence of events, and you will need to let things play out as they will.
Even if you had successfully applied for restoration before submitting the PR application, you're probably looking at a similar overall timeline for the OWP. I'm not sure how long restoration takes at the moment. Not instantly, that's for sure. Just checked, no processing times are published on the IRCC website. I "guess" that it is the same as a "visitor visa, from inside Canada" but who knows...

You could always submit another OWP app once you receive status that will process in around 3 months.

It took me 2.5 months to receive visitor record in the mail after applying. You should have status restored by now? So you could apply for OWP if you'd like to not wait until AIP
