hello

i recently mailed my application to sponsor my spouse ( outside canada )

i have issue with option c...when i asked CRA to send me my option c of 2013 tax year, 3 weeks before i filed my taxes so when i received my notice of assessment i thought it was option c as i have never seen how it looks like..and i included that with the application

so now today i received another notice from cra n this doesnt even say what it is, but these looks like option c as i googled n looked at the images

what should i do? will they return my application? what is the best way to correct my confusion?

thanks

It is not possible to get option C of tax year 2013 without first of all filing your 2013 taxes. The Option C print out does not have a name but it should look like your notice of assessment except it has more details.

Make a copy for yourself and mail the original to CPC-Mississauga(if your application is still there) and include a cover letter explaining your error.

i would actually recommend holding on to the option c form until it is requested, especially if you haven't received AOR yet. It is very unlikely they are going to be able to attach this 1 form to your application if they haven't started processing your application yet. To them, it would be trying to find a needle in a haystack. If the other form you sent in happened to be your 2012 option c, it may be enough for sponsorship approval. If it wasn't, they will for sure request it, and you can send it ASA with the proper identifcation numbers for your file that will certainly be on the request. Since they require the original form, this will prevent it from getting lost and having to send it in again.

We forgot to include a copy of our marriage certificate when we mailed the original package. Our lawyer sent it a week after (weeks before getting the AOR). My GCMS notes show it was received and kept in a separate place with instructions for the officer to retrieve it from said place. If the OP has a client ID already, it shouldn't be too hard to locate his file. Plus, he can always request a new Option C if it's lost.

I Also made this error, when I called CRA to ask them if the notice of assessment I got with my 2013 tax return is same as option c printout the guy said yes. So I would really be upset if they ask me to send in the option c printout again when a representative from the CRA told me it was the same :@

a NOA is different than an option C form, as the option c form contains more information. if CIC doesn't accept the NOA and your application isn't consdered complete, CIC will notify you before receiving AOR and SA.

Hi Rochen, can you please show us how the option-c print out looks like. i just checked my CRA account i couldnt find such

it's not something that can be found online. it MUST be ordered by calling CRA. They will know what you mean and will send it to you. When you get the form, it will not even say it's an option c form. it will have detailed tax information listed on the form, and look like an income statement.

Not only ask for option C printout. Also ask for latest income slips that were used to determine income as well. The application checklist also ask that you submit option C printout of most recent taxation year along with printouts of all income slips.

not for outland applicants, only needed the option C form. that's all we sent from the CRA, and got SA. application checklist did not mention income slips. i think that's only if an option c wasn't available.

You are right if the applicant is going the outland approach. If they were doing the inland approach, then option c and income slips if possible is best to be sent in.
